The Syros is Kia’s latest offering in the Indian market. This sub-4 meter SUV has set waves in the industry with its unconventional design and smart packaging. Kia India has put a competitive price tag on the vehicle as well. The SUV starts at 9 lakh, ex-showroom and goes all the way up to 17.80 lakh. These prices are introductory and will go up in the future. At launch, it was announced that the deliveries would begin in mid-February. Looks like some dealerships have already started commencing deliveries of this sub-compact SUV.

In a video posted on YouTube, several brand-new Syros SUVs can be seen, ready to be delivered. It looks like the video was taken just before the owners took deliveries of their new buys. Most of them have flower garlands on. It is a common practice in many parts of India to put flower garlands on newly bought vehicles, as the occasion itself is considered auspicious.

At least 10 cars can be seen in the video. The visuals are from a KIA dealership in Nagole, Telangana. It is common for manufacturers to conduct such mass deliveries. These make a unique purchase experience for customers and a good PR opportunity for the brand.

The manufacturer started accepting bookings for the Syros on January 3, 2025 and the product managed to gather massive interest from among buyers. It received 10,258 pre-launch bookings and continues to amass orders.

Kia Syros: Quick Look At It

In Kia India’s portfolio, the Syros sits above the Sonet and below the Seltos. The design remains one of its major highlights. It looks unconventional and has an upright stance. Key highlights are low-set vertical LED headlights, low tail lamps, flush-type door handles, prominent body cladding, 17-inch alloy wheels, body-coloured B-pillars, roof rails, a flat glass area, high-mounted L-shaped rear positioning lamps, and more. There are 8 colour options available: Aurora Black Pearl, Frost Blue, Glacier White Pearl, Gravity Grey, Imperial Blue, Intense Red, Pewter Olive and Sparkling Silver.

The cabin is well-designed and neatly packaged. The space management here needs to be praised. The Syros comes packed with technology and equipment. The most notable highlight inside is the massive 30-inch display which the manufacturer calls ‘ the Trinity screen’. This cluster consists of two 12.3-inch displays for the infotainment and instrument cluster, joined together by a 5-inch touchscreen that has HVAC controls.

Other features inside the Syros are a two-spoke steering wheel with an offset KIA logoi, rear AC vents, front and rear ventilated seats, climate control, panoramic sunroof, Kia Connect 2.0 with improved functions and features, ambient lighting, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a wireless charging pad, powered driver’s seat, electronic parking brake, a 360-degree camera, and level 2 ADAS along with a slew of other safety features.

The Sonet and Seltos get premium audio systems from BOSE. The Syros, on the other hand, gets an 8-speaker Harman Kardon sound system that offers great sound quality.

It is a tallboy and the same translates into generous room on the inside. To manage it smartly, the rear seat offers both recline and sliding functions. You can easily adjust these to generate more room for passengers or for luggage. Plus, the rear seats get an armrest and 60:40 split-folding function.

In terms of powertrains, the Syros features both petrol and diesel units. The petrol engine is a 1.0L turbocharged unit that produces 120 hp and 172 Nm. The diesel variants are powered by the 1.5L turbocharged unit that produces 116hp and 250Nm. Alongside the manual transmission, the petrol engine comes with a 7-speed DCT while the diesel gets a 6-speed torque converter automatic.
