The all-new Kia Syros is the newest SUV to enter the already crowded sub-compact SUV segment. Dimensionally, it measures 3,995 mm in length, 1,805 mm in width, 1,680 mm in height, and offers a wheelbase of 3,995 mm. Now, it may seem like Kia could hurt its own sibling, the Sonet, as it also competes in the same sub-compact SUV segment.
However, there are a number of key differences. The Syros has been designed with family buyers in mind. Its unique tall-boy design with futuristic elements makes it suitable for people who are looking for a vehicle in which the rear seat occupants do not feel cramped.
Also, the Syros, from the outside, looks very unique. At the front, it gets a very clean and minimalistic design with vertically stacked LED headlights, a chunky matte black bumper with a silver skid plate, and vertically positioned LED DRLs. Its bonnet is also squarish, which adds to a unique appearance.
Apart from this, on the side profile, the SUV gets a two-part design and a very boxy silhouette. The front section of the car is separated by a thick B-pillar finished in body color. Meanwhile, the C and D-pillars have been merged together with a unique kink on the rear quarter panel.
It also gets flush-type door handles, distinct-looking 17-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, and chunky side claddings. As for the rear-end design, the Syros gets a set of L-shaped LED taillights on the ends of the glass panel. There are also fixed LED headlights on the rear of the quarter panel as well. The tailgate is flat, and it also gets a chunky rear bumper with a silver skid plate.
Stepping inside the Kia Syros, one is welcomed with a very clean and modern-looking dashboard. The main highlight of this interior is the 30-inch Trinity panoramic display. This particular display houses the infotainment screen, controls for AC, and a digital instrument gauge cluster for the driver.
It also gets a unique gear lever, start/stop button, two-spoke steering wheel with controls for various functions, an electronic parking brake, a wireless charger, front ventilated seats, and a powered driver seat. Other features include a panoramic sunroof, a 360-degree camera, ADAS Level 2, ABS, EBD, a tire pressure monitoring system, and many others. The Syros is the only sub-compact SUV that offers rear reclining and ventilated seats.
Kia is offering the Syros with two engine options. The first is a 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine, and the other is a 1.5-litre diesel motor. The former makes 120 bhp and 178 Nm of torque and will be offered with a 6-speed manual or 7-speed DCT. Meanwhile, the latter will make 115 bhp and 250 Nm of torque and come with a 6-speed manual or 6-speed torque converter automatic.
