Multi-Crore Lamborghini Huracan Supercar Falls Into Pothole (Video)

India is not for beginners, nor is it for supercars! Owning and driving the likes of a Lamborghini or Ferrari here can be very challenging due to the country’s extreme weather conditions, congested traffic, and poor road infrastructure. It is not uncommon for us to come across news, videos or sightings of expensive supercars and sports cars struggling with bad patches, speed breakers and potholes. In a recent incident, a Lamborghini Huracan was seen tackling a bad patch and pothole along with a Hyundai Exter. A video of the same has now surfaced.
It shows a Black Lamborghini Huracan (not sure if it is an AWD or the RWD) first taking a speed breaker and then tackling a pothole. A Hyundai Exter can be seen just behind the Lamborghini, going through the same. The supercar takes the speed breaker slow. The breaker itself is not a severe one. Thus, the Huracan driver doesn’t have to do the diagonal approach.
The pothole, however, seems to be serious. The Huracan ‘falls’ into it, regardless of however careful the driver tried to be. Due to the depth and gravity of the fall, the car can be seen bouncing back. Going by the visuals, the suspension and low chin might have taken hits. We are not aware of any further details, nor do we know the place where this happened.
Also interesting to note is how the Exter- a pretentious but practical SUV- tackles the same hurdles. It takes the speed breaker with ample ease and proper dampening but also falls into the pothole ( a ‘pit’ to be honest) before the focus shifts completely to the Lambo. It also needs to be mentioned that the Exter offers a plush ride inside and has soft-set springs. The occupants do not get to feel most undulations or mild speedbreakers.
India could probably be the only place on Earth where it would make sense to compare a Lamborghini Huracan to a humble Hyundai Exter! The Exter- a micro-SUV based on the Grand i10 NIOS, has a ground clearance of 185 mm. The approach angle here is 41.2 degrees.
The Huracan on the other hand, has a ground clearance of 135 mm. The hardware on it, however, can lift it by a few inches to take the clearance to 175 mm. This, again, doesn’t make much difference on extremely bad patches like the ones you see on most Indian roads. The Hyundai has the upper hand here!
Now take the case of Huracan Sterrato- the rally-going Huracan as they say. It has a ground clearance of 171 mm, 41 odd millimetres more than the standard supercar. The approach, breakover and departure angles, however, are 10.4, 14.7, and 26.5 degrees respectively. This means you could still have a heartbreak putting it into an average Indian pothole, though not as much as you’d with a regular Huracan. Strangely though, Lamborghini has chosen not to bring it to Indian soil.
The Urus is perhaps one of the best-selling models from the Italian giant today. As of 2023, Lamborghini commenced deliveries of 6,087 units of the super SUV. A large share of its popularity has to be attributed to it being a practical Lamborghini- an SUV. Post its launch, we have seen multiple Huracan owners making a shift to the Urus. It rides high, is practical and doesn’t lose the Lamborghini gist in performance.
