B10 On Video: Superhit Chinese Electric SUV That Will Soon Challenge The MG Windsor EV In India

Currently, the MG Windsor EV is the most popular affordable electric SUV in India. It has managed to outsell the Tata Nexon.ev, Hyundai Creta Electric, Tata Curvv.ev, and many others. However, recently, the global automotive giant Stellantis’ Chinese electric vehicle manufacturing partner, Leapmotor, has released its B10 electric SUV. This new affordable EV could be launched in India as well, and once that happens, it could easily become the best-selling EV in India.
The video review of the Leapmotor B10 has been shared on YouTube by Telescope on their channel. In this video, the host test drives the Leapmotor B10’s top-of-the-line variant which comes with LIDAR and ADAS level 2. He mentions that this particular variant will be priced around 1,20,000 Yuan or Rs 14.25 lakh. The host then states that it is a very sensibly sized car with decent space, and detailed interior.
He mentions that this variant gets a 160 kW rear motor, rear-wheel drive, and a three-link independent rear suspension and has a weight of 1670 kg. It also comes with 18-inch wheels. Overall, the reviewer highlights that the B10 is very spacious, comfortable, and has a very capable ADAS system.
Earlier in March of this year, Leapmotor unveiled their all-new mid-size electric SUV, the B10. This SUV, in just the first hour of being released to the public, managed to garner over 15,010 bookings. As for the total bookings in the first 48 hours, this number reached 31,688 units. In China, this vehicle has been announced with a starting price of 109,800 Yuan, which in Indian currency is around Rs 12.70 lakh.
First off, let's start with the dimensions of the Leapmotor B10. This new electric SUV measures 4,515 mm in length, 1,885 mm in width, 1,655 mm in height, and its wheelbase is 2,735 mm. When compared to that of its direct rival in India—the MG Windsor Pro—the B10 is longer but shorter and wider. The main highlight, however, is that it will have a 35 mm longer wheelbase than the already long Windsor Pro.
Now coming to the design of the front of the Leapmotor B10, it gets a clean and very simple front end, which does not have a lot of cluttering elements. The B10 gets a split headlamp design with sleek LED DRLs on top and square LED headlights set in the middle of the front bumper. Like all EVs, it also gets a blanked-off grille and a simple front bumper. The main highlight of the B10 is the LIDAR sensor on the top.
On the side profile, this mid-size electric SUV gets a proper SUV-like strong silhouette, which has been made a little curvaceous. To a few people, it may seem inspired by a Porsche Cayenne luxury SUV. The Leapmotor B10 gets flush-type door handles, multi-spoke diamond-cut alloy wheels, and body-colored side claddings.
As for the rear-end design, to a lot of people, it may again seem like a Porsche Cayenne-inspired design. It gets a connected LED taillight, and the rear bumper is also not very cluttered. Overall, the Leapmotor B10 boasts a very simple and elegant design, which looks very premium.
On the inside, the Leapmotor B10’s main highlight is a 14.6-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system. It also gets an 8.8-inch LCD cluster and a two-spoke D-cut steering wheel. The overall cabin gets white interior upholstery with satin silver trims, which gives it a very sophisticated appearance.
It also gets a massive panoramic glass roof, a 12-speaker audio system, six accessory slots, a Snapdragon 8295 chip with a cloud-based AI assistant, and many other features. In terms of safety features, the Leapmotor B10 gets 26 ADAS Level 2 features like smart parking, obstacle avoidance, adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, and many others.
In international markets, the Leapmotor B10 gets three rear-wheel-drive powertrain options: 132 kW or 177 bhp, 160 kW or 214 bhp, and 170 kW or 228 bhp. As for the battery pack, it will come with 56.2 kWh and 67.1 kWh units. The former will provide around 500 km of range, while the latter will offer around 600 km of range.
