MG M9: Electric Limousine

JSW MG Motor’s luxury channel, MG Select, is set to showcase its second vehicle, the all-electric MG M9 limousine, at the Expo. The MG M9 is designed as a multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) prioritizing comfort and advanced features.

Design and Features

The MG M9’s exterior features trapezoidal front grilles for a distinctive appearance. Inside, the vehicle offers reclining ottoman seats in the second row with touchscreen handrails controlling eight massage modes and a three-zone climate control system. These features are intended to enhance passenger comfort.

Performance and Range

The MG M9 is expected to have a 90kWh battery, providing a range of over 400 kilometers per charge. Detailed specifications such as power output and charging times are yet to be disclosed.

Market Positioning

“The MG M9 offers bespoke interiors, meticulous craftsmanship, and advanced technology,” said Gaurav Gupta, Chief Growth Officer of JSW MG Motor India. The vehicle is positioned to appeal to those seeking a luxury electric limousine.

Hyundai Staria: Feature-Rich MPV

Hyundai Staria MPV

Hyundai’s Staria, a versatile MPV, will also make its Indian debut at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025. The Staria has been well-received internationally since its launch in 2021 and is designed for practicality and versatility.

Design and Interior

The Staria’s design features a horizontal LED light bar, a wide grille section, and large glass panels for an airy cabin ambiance. The rear has vertical LED tail lamps with pixelated detailing. The interior offers multiple seating layouts, including nine- and eleven-seat configurations, as well as features such as a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, an all-digital instrument console, and heated and ventilated seats.

Powertrains

Globally, the Staria comes with multiple powertrains:

• A 3.5L Smartstream G3.5 MPi V6 petrol engine with 272 PS and 332 Nm.

• A hybrid setup with a 1.6L turbocharged petrol engine and an electric motor, delivering 242 PS and 367 Nm combined.

• A 2.2L CRDi diesel engine with 175 PS and 268 Nm, paired with either a 6-speed manual or an 8-speed automatic gearbox.

Hyundai Staria

Hyundai is reportedly developing an all-electric version of the Staria, further expanding its offerings in sustainable mobility.

Market Expectations

The Staria could rival the Kia Carnival, which has demonstrated the potential for high-end MPVs in India despite its price tag. Hyundai aims to use the Expo to gauge consumer interest and determine the feasibility of a market launch.

Insights from the Luxury MPV Segment

The Kia Carnival’s sales success highlights consumer interest in premium MPVs that balance size, comfort, and technology at a competitive price. This trend suggests a growing acceptance of vehicles that prioritize functionality alongside luxury. The Staria’s design and features align with these preferences, potentially appealing to families and businesses seeking practical yet upscale options.

The Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 serves as a platform for brands to showcase their innovations. The MG M9 and Hyundai Staria reflect broader trends in the automotive market, emphasizing sustainability and technology. Their presence at the Expo will offer valuable insights into evolving consumer preferences and the future of mobility in India.
