Mahindra’s Fastest SUV Launches Soon: 100 Kph in 5 Sec

The Indian SUV manufacturing giant Mahindra is gearing up to take over the electric vehicle segment in India. For this, the company is working on the development of its Born Electric (BE) range of SUVs. According to reports, the first model to be launched under the new BE brand will be the BE.05 electric SUV. Recently, it has been revealed that this electric SUV will be capable of making a sprint from 0 to 100 kmph in just 5 seconds. Most likely, it will make its debut around November of this year, and its deliveries will commence in early 2025.
Mahindra will be offering the upcoming BE.05 electric SUV with three drivetrain options. There will be two Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) versions and one All-Wheel Drive (AWD) version. Reportedly, the AWD variant will do a sprint from 0-100 kmph in 5 seconds.
Also, the RWD models will not be too slow either. The lowest variant will achieve the same 0-100 kmph in 7.6 seconds. Meanwhile, the performance RWD version will take just 6 seconds. These figures will make the BE.05 one of the quickest Indian cars on the market once launched.
It has been reported that the company will offer the BE.05 with two battery pack options. The first will be a 60 kWh battery pack, offering an estimated range of over 400 km. On the other hand, there will be a bigger 82 kWh battery pack as well, offering a range of around 586 km.
The upcoming BE.05 and other BE SUVs will be based on the INGLO platform. Although it has been developed by Mahindra, it borrows some components from Volkswagen’s MEB architecture. The INGLO platform supports fast charging, and the BE.05 is expected to feature high-speed DC charging capabilities as well.
Now, coming to the design details of the BE.05, it is a very futuristic-looking vehicle. The recent test mules have shown that the upcoming BE.05 looks almost the same as the concept shown by the brand. It boasts a very sleek and futuristic exterior. It is expected that the company will offer the SUV with massive 20-inch wheels.
As for the interior, it will come with an immensely advanced cockpit-like layout. It will feature a huge touchscreen in the middle, a big digital instrument gauge cluster, a head-up display, and all the connectivity and safety features, including ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems).
At the moment, the company has not announced the exact launch date for the BE.05. However, it will most likely launch the model by November of this year. As stated, the deliveries of this model could commence in 2025. As for the pricing, it is believed that the BE.05 could be launched in the price range of Rs 20-25 lakh.
One of the very important things about the BE.05 is that the company is not only targeting Indian cars, but it is also benchmarking it against popular international electric cars. Mahindra is aiming to compete with the Volkswagen ID.5, Tesla Model Y, and Volvo C40. As for the Indian market cars it will take on the Tata Harrier EV, Maruti Suzuki eVX and Hyundai Creta EV.
