Mahindra BE.05 Electric SUV’s Launch Timeline Revealed

Mahindra Automotive has been relentlessly working on the development of its most promising electric vehicle yet. We are talking about the BE.05, which will be its first product under the new “Born Electric” brand. It has been reported that Mahindra will be launching the new BE.05 in November of this year, around the time of Diwali. The exact date is yet to be announced.
As per reports, the Mahindra BE.05 will be entering production by late 2024. It has been revealed that the BE.05 will be produced in the company’s Chakan Plant in Pune, Maharashtra. Coming to the deliveries of the BE.05, they are slated to start in January next year.
The upcoming BE.05 will be based on Mahindra’s brand-new INGLO platform. This particular architecture has been developed by Mahindra Automotive, with some components being sourced from Volkswagen’s MEB Platform. Mahindra and Volkswagen have been working together to create a very capable electric platform.
This same platform will be utilized by other Born Electric products, like the XUV.e8 and BE.09, among others. Now, coming to the powertrain specifications of the BE.05, this new EV SUV will not be a regular electric vehicle. Rather, it will be a very performance-oriented SUV.
It has been reported that it will be offered with both rear-wheel drive (RWD) as well as all-wheel drive (AWD) configurations. The entry-level variant will come equipped with a rear-wheel drive motor that will produce around 231 bhp and 380 Nm of torque.
Rumors have suggested that the company could also offer a more powerful option as well. This particular motor is Volkswagen’s APP 550 motor. At its peak, it could generate 286 bhp and an impressive 535 Nm of torque.
One of the main highlights of the BE.05 electric SUV will be that it will be able to do a sprint of 0-100 km/h in just 5 seconds (AWD variant). Meanwhile, the RWD models are expected to offer a 0-100 km/h timing of 6-7.6 seconds.
Now, coming to the other main highlight of this electric SUV, the Mahindra BE.05 will be offered with two battery pack options. The first will be a smaller 60 kWh battery pack, while the other will be a larger 79 kWh battery pack.
The smaller pack will offer a range of around 350-370 km, while the larger battery pack could offer around a 450 km range on a single full charge. Some reports also suggest that the bigger battery pack could be around 82 kWh as well.
However, details are yet to be confirmed. As for charging, the upcoming BE.05 will be offered with fast charging capabilities. It has been stated that the 79 kWh battery pack could be charged from 20-80 percent in just 20 minutes on a 175 kW DC fast charger.
In terms of dimensions, the Mahindra BE.05 will measure around 4,370 mm in length, 1,900 mm in width, and 1,635 mm in height. As for the wheelbase, it will be around 2,775 mm. Now, coming to the exterior design, it will look very similar to the concept that has been showcased.
It will feature an extremely futuristic and modern design. The front will get C-shaped LED headlights, a sharp front fascia, and a closed-off grille. It will also have massive 20-inch aero blade-style alloy wheels.
On the inside, it will come with a very driver-centric, cockpit-style dashboard layout. There will be a massive screen for infotainment and a digital instrument gauge cluster. Also, the SUV is expected to come with all modern features and ADAS Level 2.
