The country's largest SUV manufacturer, Mahindra Automotive, is known for celebrating the Independence Day of India with a number of new launches and concept reveals. This year is no different, and we will be seeing a number of new models from the brand. However, there is one interesting thing this year: the company will be unveiling a new edition of its recently launched BE 6 electric SUV just a day before its main event on August 15. A new teaser showing the potential Black/Dark/BAT/Night Edition of this SUV has been shared online.

New Mahindra BE 6 Edition coming

This new Mahindra BE 6 Edition’s teaser has been shared on YouTube as well as all other social media handles of the Mahindra Electric Origin SUVs. It starts off with a text mentioning, “Something stirs in the shadows,” following which a front-end glimpse of this SUV is shown, where we can note the sharp front fascia finished in silver.

Soon after this, the video shows the front end of this SUV, but from the right side. Eagle-eyed viewers might note that, for a split second, the video shows the silhouette of this SUV under a lightning bolt. It appears that the vehicle is finished in a satin silver shade. As mentioned, the company will be unveiling this new edition of the Mahindra BE 6 on August 14.

What edition could it be?

At the moment, Mahindra Automotive has not revealed the exact name of the soon-to-be-unveiled BE 6. However, there are reports that it could either be the Black Edition, Shadow Edition, or BAT Edition. Once unveiled, this will become the first-ever special edition of the Mahindra Born Electric SUV lineup.

There are some speculations which claim that Mahindra could be surprising everyone with a convertible edition of the BE 6. However, it seems a little far-fetched, as convertible cars and Indian weather do not go hand in hand. As for the other speculations, there are some experts who believe that Mahindra could be gearing up for the launch of a dual-motor edition of the BE 6.

If this becomes the case, then the Tata Harrier.ev will have a new competitor which will also offer AWD performance. Currently, Mahindra only offers the BE 6 electric SUV with a rear-wheel-drive setup. This electric SUV is offered in Pack One, Pack One Above, Pack Two, Pack Three Select, and Pack Three variants.

As for the battery pack options, there are two offerings — a 59 kWh unit providing a claimed range of 557 km and a 79 kWh unit giving a claimed range of 683 km. The lower variants get 228 bhp and 380 Nm of torque, while the higher variants get 282 bhp and 380 Nm of torque.

Mahindra offers the BE 6 with a ton of features, including connected screens, a 16-speaker Harman Kardon audio system with Dolby Atmos, a panoramic glass roof with ambient lighting, a 360-degree camera, ADAS Level 2+, ventilated front seats, a VisionX augmented reality head-up display, and many others.

The Mahindra BE 6 currently competes with rivals such as the Tata Curvv.ev, Hyundai Creta Electric, BYD Atto 3, MG ZS EV, and MG Windsor Pro in the Indian electric vehicle market.
