Finally, after such a long wait, Mahindra Automotive has unveiled its all-new BE 6E and XEV 9E electric SUVs in India. The BE 6E has been launched at Rs 18.90 lakh and the XEV 9E starts Rs 21.90 lakh. Both of these SUVs will sit at the top of the Mahindra SUV lineup and will compete with luxury electric vehicles from German brands like BMW and Mercedes-Benz, along with others.
In terms of design, the Mahindra BE 6E at the front looks almost like the concept that was shown a few years ago. It gets sleek C-shaped LED DRLs along with almost hidden LED headlights and an illuminated BE logo. The entire center portion of the fascia gets a classy-looking gloss black treatment.
There is also a functional bonnet scoop, which is something that has not been seen in any other Indian vehicle. The BE 6E gets a gunmetal grey-colored skid plate at the bottom, flanked by two LED fog lights as well.
As for the side profile, it gets chunky, squared-off, and flared wheel arches with massive 20-inch aerodynamic wheels. It also gets flush-type door handles for the front doors, while the rear door handles are integrated into the C-pillar.
The BE 6E at the rear gets C-shaped LED taillights and an illuminated BE logo. The rear bumper has been blacked out and gets aggressive cuts and creases, which add to its bold and athletic design. Overall, it looks very futuristic and boasts a sharp design, which we do not generally see in cars designed and made in India.
Moving on to the interior, the BE 6E continues the theme of distinctiveness. It gets a unique cockpit-style dashboard where the driver gets all the attention. The SUV will come equipped with a dual-screen setup with a split-level console. There will also be an illuminated two-spoke steering wheel with integrated toggle switches for controls and regeneration modes.
The BE 6E also gets unique and futuristic front seats with pillar-mounted headrests and dual-tone leatherette and fabric upholstery. Up top, it features a fixed glass roof with a geometric pattern and ambient lighting. The same lights have also been integrated into the dashboard and the door panels.
Other features of the BE 6E will include Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and a wireless charger. It will also come equipped with Level 2 ADAS features such as lane-keep assist and automatic emergency braking. There will also be multi-zone climate control and a premium audio system – Dolby Atmos with 16 speakers.
Mahindra has also unveiled the XEV 9E in India. This will be the bigger of the two SUVs and boasts a very bold and beautiful design. At the front, it gets a connected LED DRL with vertically stacked LED headlights. There is also the typical closed-off grille seen on EVs.
Apart from these, the front bumper gets a black finish with two LED fog lights and inlets for cooling. The XEV 9E also gets the new illuminated Mahindra “Infinity” logo. As for the side profile, it gets a sloping roofline, which gives it a coupe-like silhouette. There are also flush-type door handles.
Other notable highlights include chunky wheel arches finished in high-gloss black. It also gets massive 20-inch aerodynamic alloy wheels finished in dual tone. Moving on to the rear, the XEV 9E gets connected U-shaped LED taillights, an illuminated Mahindra “Infinity” logo, and a blacked-out bumper.
Stepping inside the Mahindra XEV 9E, it gets a unique triple-screen setup that dominates the dashboard. There is a screen for the driver, which is the instrument gauge cluster, a central infotainment screen, and also a screen for the front passenger.
Apart from these, it gets touch-based controls for automatic climate control, hazard lamps, and other functions. The cabin will be covered with premium materials such as leatherette and soft-touch plastics. It will also get an illuminated two-spoke steering wheel and a new, unique gear selector.
