Mahindra BE 6 And XEV 9e: What Is So Special About Their Audio Systems [Video]

Mahindra has delivered dual hits with the XEV 9e and BE 6. These electric SUVs are in high demand and offer the choice of two battery packs- 59 kWh and 79 kWh. The BE 6 starts at 18.9 lakh, and goes up to 26.9 lakh for the range-topping variant. The XEV 9e, on the other hand, is priced in the range of 21.9- 30.5 lakh rupees, ex-showroom. Both the SUVs are packed with features, the biggest attraction of which could be the audio system. Mahindra has provided Dolby Atmos in both SUVs.
Both the BE 6 and XEV 9e come with a 16-speaker Harman Kardon audio system with an output of 1500 Watts. The setup includes three-way front speakers with tweeters near the front seats, mid-range driver and woofers.
For the clear distribution of sound, there is a central Unity speaker. The mid-range speakers at the rear deliver high-fidelity audio. There is also a subwoofer for deeper bass. Two ceiling-mounted speaker drivers provide a full 360° sound experience. These SUVs are claimed to offer immersive sound inside the cabin. It is notably better than the audio quality delivered by the Sony 3D sound system on the XUV 700.
The Dolby Atmos integration in the BE 6 and XEV 9e infotainment systems make sure to provide a studio-like audio experience, offering crystal-clear sound with remarkable depth and precision. Furthermore, there is Gaana app integration as well.
The Dolby Atmos technology creates a more immersive connection between music, movies, and podcasts. It is claimed to bring out finer details in sound. It can turn just about every vehicle into a space where drivers and passengers get even more out of their favourite entertainment. Interestingly, Dolby Atmos was first developed for cinema sound. Later it expanded to spheres like mobile phones, home theatres and now to cars.
The Dolby engineers worked closely with Mahindra and Harman to realise the Atmos experience. Special attention was placed on making speaker choices, placement and designing sound drivers. Harman, being a big name in the audio industry, with rich experience in designing speakers and audio systems, proved to be the perfect partner.
