In a video that has been shared online, we get to see 25 units of the BE 6 and XEV being handed over to the new owners. It starts by showing the venue, and the customers who have gathered to take deliveries of their electric SUVs. Mahindra officials and the dealer staff interact with them, and finally, the keys are handed over.

Vayalat Mahindra's showroom is situated near the national highway. In the final few seconds of the video, we can see these SUVs being driven on the highway. The dealer seems to have organized a short drive for its customers- probably an attempt to give them quick tastes of their EVs and for photo opportunities.

Mahindra BE 6 and XEV 9e: A Closer Look At The Duo

To start with, both the BE 6 and XEV 9e are Rear Wheel Drive (RWD) vehicles. The duo is based on Mahindra's new-age electric vehicle platform- INGLO. This high-voltage EV architecture has been developed in India, adhering to global standards. Both SUVs offer the choice of two battery packs- 59 kWh and 79 kWh. These have been sourced from BYD and thus uses Blade cells.

The XEV 9e is available in a total of four trims- Pack ONE, Pack TWO, PACK THREE Select and Pack THREE. The BE 6 comes in five trims- Pack ONE, Pack ONE Above Pack TWO, PACK THREE Select and Pack THREE. In both cases, it is just the top-spec (Pack THREE) that features the 79 kWh battery.

The electric motor is sourced from Valeo and sits on the rear axle of both SUVs. The BE 6 and XEV 9e come in two states of tune- the 59 kWh version produces 228hp and 380 Nm, while the 79 kWh version can churn out up to 282 hp. The BE 6 is the sportier of the two and does the 0-100 kph sprint in just 6.7 seconds. Range, Everyday and Race are the three drive modes offered. Also available on the BE 6 is an additional Boost mode which provides 10 seconds of added adrenaline rush.

In terms of design, the BE 6 has been drawn from scratch and thus looks absolutely fresh and concept car-like. Key highlights are 19-inch aero-optimised wheels (optional 20-inch wheels on the top-spec), clean lines and smooth surfaces that go easy on the eyes, flush door handles, all LED lighting, a high-deck rear, sporty bumpers, illuminated BE logo, and C-shaped LED daytime running lamps (DRLs).

The XEV 9e, on the other hand, borrows a lot of its cues from the XUV 700. It could in fact, be called an electric coupe form of the 700. Key highlights of this design are a closed-off grille, a full-width LED light bar, generous use of piano black, flush door handles, prominent shoulder line, 19 (and optional 20) inch aero-optimized wheels, illuminated 'infinity Mahindra' logo and connected tail lights.

The interior design and layout differ sharply between these models. The BE 6 gets minimal-yet-futuristic cabin with features like a distinctive 'Halo' like element that brings about a cockpit-like experience, two 12.3-inch floating screens- one for the infotainment and the other for instrumentation, 16 speaker Harman Kardon audio with Dolby Atmos, ambient light, a segment-first augmented reality head-up display, two-spoke, flat-bottom steering wheel, a wireless charging, dual-zone climate control, a huge panoramic sunroof with integrated lighting, an in-car camera, electronic parking brake, auto park assist, powered driver’s seat, a Level 2 ADAS suite and more.

The XEV's cabin would remind you of that XUV 700 with many of its styling cues. The key highlight inside is the triple screen layout- three 12.3-inch displays- one for the central infotainment, one for instrumentation and the third for co-driver's infotainment. Some switchgear is shared with the BE. Other features are a panoramic sunroof, 16-speaker Harman Kardon system with Dolby Atmos, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, connected car tech, an HUD, level 2 ADAS, 360 degree camera etc.
