Mahindra has launched the Electric Origin SUVs- BE6 and XEV 9e- in the Indian market. The carmaker is expected to commence deliveries of these electric vehicles (EVs) in the coming weeks. Now, a new video that has surfaced online, shows the underside of the XEV 9e and BE 6- which are both based on the carmaker's new-age INGLO platform.

First Look At The Underside Of XEV 9e and BE 6

The video shows a Black Mahindra XEV 9e on a lift. We get to see the underside of the SUV. There is a strong metal covering that protects the underpinnings and wiring from external damage. You won't have to worry about hitting stones or getting into potholes. This strong construction and proper insulation enhance the overall safety offered by the vehicle.

Soon after their market debut, Bharat NCAP (BNCAP) crash-tested the BE 6 and XEV 9e. Both these electric SUVs scored 5-star ratings and achieved the highest scores. The frontal impact tests were conducted at 64 km/h, side impact tests at 50 km/h, and pole side impact tests at 29 km/h. The electric SUVs excelled in front and side impact tests. In most tests, the impact did not reach or harm the floor-mounted battery pack.

The BE 6 scored 31.97 points out of 32 in the Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) and 45 out of 49 in Child Occupant Protection (COP). The XEV 9e scored 32/32 in AOP and 45/49 in COP.

INGLO Platform: More Details

Both the BE 6 and XEV 9e are based on the new-age EV platform- INGLO. This skateboard has been developed in India adhering to global safety and performance standards- thus the name.

Since it is a skateboard platform, the INGLO has the battery pack integrated into its floor. This lowers the centre of gravity and improves the overall dynamics. It also makes the floor completely flat.

Diving deeper into its structure, the INGLO makes generous use of ultra-high-strength boron steel. This construction makes these vehicles two of the safest in the segment.

The INGLO was designed ground up, exclusively for electric vehicles. This modular and versatile platform can support various body styles and categories of vehicles. The same high-voltage architecture will also be used in the upcoming XEV 8e as well.

In the BE 6 and XEV 9e, two battery packs are avaialable: 59 kWh and 79 kWh. The bigger battery is available only on the top-spec variants of these vehicles.

Rear-Mounted Motor And RWD

On both the BE 6 and XEV 9e, the electric motor sits on the rear axle. Both SUVs get single-motor setups and thus come with rear wheel drive (RWD). The motor output ranges from 228 hp to 280 hp. Mahindra has cleverly integrated the electric motor, inverter and transmission into these vehicles. The vehicles also come with semi-active suspension and brake-by-wire technology.
