Mahindra is currently one of the leading SUV manufacturers in India. They have a variety of models in their lineup. They are working on both ICE as well as EVs. Their recently launched XUV 9E and BE.06 are doing well, and Mahindra is also working on a variety of new EV models. Mahindra has now released a new teaser video of their upcoming EV platform ahead of its unveiling on August 15th this year.

The video has been shared by Mahindra Automotive on their X profile. The 24-second video has been posted on their official page with the caption, “Freedom gets a ?? expression this Independence Day as we showcase a Bold ?? vision for the future.” Mahindra, as we all know, is working on a brand-new platform.

It is a New Flexible Architecture (NFA) platform, which is likely to be called the NU platform, as the teaser hints. This is a brand-new platform that can be used for a range of petrol, diesel, hybrid, and electric powertrains.

However, we feel Mahindra will be using this NU platform specifically for their upcoming electric vehicles. They might have a different name for the petrol, diesel, and hybrid platform. We say that the NU platform is likely to be focused on EVs because Mahindra has added a hashtag of Mahindra Electric Origin SUVs in the post. It has become a ritual for Mahindra to showcase their future products and concepts on August 15, and this year is going to be no different.

While Mahindra has not revealed details of the upcoming models and platforms, they are already testing a new version of the Bolero or Bolero Neo, and the same has been spotted testing on our roads. It looks different from the current version, and the test mule has been spotted with round headlamps, a wide grille, and the new Mahindra logo on it.

The turn indicators are placed on the lower side of the bumper like the Toyota Fortuner. The test mule has also been spotted with XUV700-like machine-cut alloy wheels. The boxy design of the SUV has been retained, and it is likely to retain the tailgate-mounted spare wheel as part of its identity.

There are even reports that the test mule spotted is actually not the Bolero Neo, and Mahindra might call it the Thar Sport and launch it in India with the aim of introducing it in the export market. We would get more clarity on the same in the coming weeks.

The Mahindra Bolero Neo is currently powered by a 1.5-litre, 3-cylinder, turbocharged diesel engine. This engine generates 100 PS and 260 Nm of peak torque. Mahindra offers this engine with both manual and AMT gearbox options.

It remains to be seen if Mahindra will continue to offer the Bolero Neo with the same engine and transmission options or if they will update the mechanicals and features. It wouldn’t be wrong to expect a premium-looking interior in the upcoming SUV or MUV.
