Mahindra Thar Roxx (Armada) 5-door: Photo Gallery
One of the most anticipated launches from Mahindra this year is the 5-door version of the Mahindra Thar. There are reports that the upcoming 5-door version of the SUV will be called Armada. While we await confirmation about the name, a set of new images has surfaced online, revealing the upcoming 5-door Thar without any camouflage. In terms of looks, the upcoming Thar 5-door appears muscular and butch. However, there are a few elements that differentiate it from the 3-door version.
The front grille on the Thar 5-door gets vertical slats, which are different from the 3-door version. The vertical slats are thick and come with black inserts.
The quadrilateral-like front grille has a horizontal strip cutting through the vertical slats.
The headlamps on the Mahindra Thar 5-door look different as well. The 5-door Thar comes with projector headlamps and LED DRLs. The round headlamps remind us of the more expensive Jeep Wrangler.
The front bumper of the Mahindra Thar is finished in a silver shade, with fog lamps integrated into the black portion of the bumper.
The LED DRLs are integrated into the fender. It needs to be seen if the DRLs are dual-function units or not.
We do not see the Mahindra logo on the front grille in the leaked images.
Coming to the side profile, the Mahindra Thar has grown in size. It is longer than the 3-door version, and the wheelbase has also increased.
We get a glimpse of the new alloy wheels. Just like the front grille, the alloy wheels are also revised. They now feature 5-spoke dual-tone wheels, which look more premium compared to the gunmetal grey finish on the 3-door version.
The second-row door of the Thar has been designed in such a manner that the cladding on the wheel arch is actually part of the door.
It has a boxy design, and the SUV looks rugged. The SUV also comes with side steps, making it easier to get in and out.
The roof of the SUV is finished in black, and it gets a triangular quarter glass for the C-pillar. This may look odd to some, but we feel it was done intentionally to differentiate it from the Wrangler.
The rear of the Mahindra Thar 5-door will retain the boxy design. It will feature a tailgate-mounted spare wheel, LED tail lamps, and parking sensors.
The Mahindra Thar is expected to get a revised cabin with features like a reverse parking camera, larger touchscreen infotainment system, multi-function steering wheel, cruise control, fabric upholstery, and so on.
The Thar 5-door will offer more space in the cabin, and as a 5-seater SUV, it will provide decent boot space compared to the 3-door version.
Engine
The Mahindra Thar 5-door will be offered with both petrol and diesel engine options. There will be two diesel engine options. The lower variants or the 2WD models of the SUV will be powered by a 1.5-liter turbocharged diesel engine, which is expected to be tuned differently. The higher variants will get a 2.2-liter turbocharged engine.
The petrol version of the SUV will be powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine. Both petrol and diesel engine options will come with 4×4, manual, and automatic transmission options. Mahindra is expected to lift the covers off the Thar 5-door officially by August 15.
