Only 10 days are left since the launch of the much anticipated 5 door Thar or the Thar ROXX. Multiple teasers and spy shots of the SUV are already available on the internet but today we will cover something unique that’s never seen before.

A YouTube video has been uploaded by the famous youtuber Her Garage which shows the 3 door Thar parked behind the 5 door Thar. This video is a great means for comparing both the SUVs. Without wasting any time, let’s delve into the details.

The video starts with both the cars being parked together. It can be clearly seen that the Thar 5 door is significantly longer than the 3 door version. The additional length accommodates the two extra doors and the larger and more practical boot space. The 3 door Thar shown in the video is loaded with beefy 20 inch off road alloy wheels while the Thar ROXX is fitted with 18 inch steel rims.

Let’s talk about the differences starting from the exterior specifically the front profile. The most common modifications in the 3 door Thar are the 7 slat grille and LED headlights. Mahindra has listened to the customers and they have equipped the Thar ROXX with a modern design 7 slat grille and LED projector headlights with C shape DRLs which double up as an indicator.

This time around the Thar ROXX will be loaded with features such as a 360 camera setup and ADAS. The camera for the ADAS and the 360 degree setup is shown by the host in the video. She further adds that slight changes will be made to the front bumper which now comes equipped with front parking sensors. A dashcam can be seen on the front windshield but it is not confirmed if it is a feature or installed for testing purpose.

The changes in the side profile are new 19 inch diamond cut alloy wheels, two new doors and a quarter panel. The Thar ROXX will come with a metal roof top like a regular car. The rear fender of the Thar ROXX is square-ish as compared to the round fender on the 3 door Thar.

The design of the ORVMs is the same as the 3 door Thar but now they feature a camera which is a part of the 360 degree camera setup. The rear quarter panel glass is in the shape of a triangle. The placement of rear door handles is close to the window. Similar handle placement is seen on the older generation Swift.

The rear profile is quite similar to the 3 door Thar. The Thar ROXX gets a complete LED taillight setup and a redesigned high mount stop lamp. Similar to the Wrangler, te rear camera is mounted on the stepney. The rear bumper design is also revised.

The interior of the Thar ROXX may disappoint some as it gets a white and black color combination which is seen on the XUV 700. Being an off road vehicle, a white cabin is not suitable at all as it will get dirty very easily.

The rear seats of the Thar ROXX get a 60:40 split, center armrest, 2 adjustable and one fixed headrest. The 7 inch display of the Thar 3 door has been replaced with a 10 inch display in the Thar ROXX. The design on the dashboard including the HVAC unit remains the same. The spy shots reveal that the steering wheel will be borrowed from the XUV 700 while the instrument cluster remains the same as the 3 door Thar.

The host adds that the top end trim of the Thar ROXX can get a fully digital cluster. The windows controls are repositioned to the doors. Front center armrest which is missing in the 3 door Thar is added in the Thar ROXX. The car in the spy images does not have a 4×4 level which confirms that the Thar ROXX will be available in both 4×4 and RWD configuration.

Additionally, the Thar ROXX gets electric fuel lid opening which was missing in the 3 door Thar. The Thar ROXX will be fully loaded with amenities such as rear wiper with washer, defogger, rear AC vents, increased boot space, auto dimming IRVM, sunglass holder and a sunroof.
