All-New 5 Door Mahindra Thar ROXX Officially Revealed [Video]
The Indian SUV manufacturing giant Mahindra Automotive has finally revealed the official name of the five-door Thar. It has been announced by the company that it will be called the Mahindra “Thar Roxx” in India. The official launch of this SUV will take place on August 15th. Along with the name announcement, the company has also released a teaser of the all-new Thar Roxx. It gives us a clear glance at the upcoming five-door Thar.

The teaser of the Mahindra Thar Roxx has been shared on YouTube by Mahindra Thar’s official channel. This clip starts with two bikers jumping over a truck and trailer carrying the Mahindra Thar Roxx. Following this, another actress asks the two riders what they saw. To this, they reply that they saw “The SUV.”
This is the tagline for the Thar Roxx. Following this, the video then shows clear glimpses of the design elements of the car. It shows the circular LED headlights with LED DRLs. It also shows the new 19-inch alloy wheels. Additionally, it also shows the new LED taillights and the new front grille with a camera. And it then finally gives a clear look at the SUV.
Mahindra Thar Roxx: Details
As we all know, the main highlight of the new Thar Roxx is its new 5-door layout. This new configuration is being offered to address the biggest negative point of the three-door Thar, which is practicality. The longer wheelbase, approximately 22% more than the 3-door version, provides easier access to the rear seats.
Exterior and Interior Design
Talking about the exterior design of the new Thar Roxx, it boasts several updates. These include a new grille design with a horizontal line, factory-fitted LED headlights, and vertically mounted door handles on the C-pillar. It also gets larger 19-inch alloy wheels.
On the inside, the Thar Roxx will also come loaded. It will get a dashboard layout that remains similar to the 3-door version. However, it will now feature a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system. This system will support Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and integrated navigation.
Additionally, the Thar Roxx will include a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, wireless phone charging, multiple airbags, Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), and a panoramic sunroof as well.
Powertrain Options
As for the powertrain options, the company will offer the Thar Roxx with multiple powertrain options. These will include the 1.5-litre diesel engine from the 3-door Thar RWD, producing around 117 bhp and 300 Nm of torque.
There will also be a more powerful 2.2-litre turbo diesel engine from the Scorpio-N that will deliver 172-175 bhp and up to 400 Nm of torque. Additionally, a 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine will provide 200-203 bhp and 370-380 Nm of torque.
Transmission options will include both manual and 6-speed torque converter automatic transmissions. There will also be a choice between 4WD and 2WD layouts as well.
Market Positioning and Competitors
The Thar Roxx will compete with popular midsize SUVs such as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, and Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara. Additionally, it will challenge Mahindra’s own Scorpio-N and the newly launched Force Gurkha 5-door. It could be offered with a starting price expected to be around Rs 13-25 lakh.
