Mahindra Thar Roxx Records 1.76 Lakh Bookings in Just One Hour; Mocha Brown Interior Option Introduced

Mahindra’s all-new five-door SUV, the Thar Roxx, has set a new record with an overwhelming response from customers. On October 3, 2024, within just one hour of opening its booking portal, the Thar Roxx received 1.76 lakh bookings. This is the highest first-day booking figure for any automotive product in India.
The bookings began at 11 am, and Mahindra’s stock prices surged as a result, with shares trading at Rs 3,165 on the NSE.
The SUV, known for its off-road capabilities, has been launched with 18 variants and 6 broad trims, offering customers a wide array of choices. The starting price of the base petrol variant is ₹12.99 lakh, while the entry-level diesel begins at ₹13.99 lakh. The top-end 4×4 variant is priced at ₹22.49 lakh (all prices ex-showroom). It comes equipped with premium features, including ventilated seats, a panoramic sunroof, a fully digital instrument cluster, and a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system.
In a significant update before the bookings began, Mahindra introduced a Mocha Brown interior option for the 4×4 variants. This was in response to customer feedback, as the previously available ivory upholstery was found to be difficult to maintain in Indian conditions. The RWD variants will continue to offer the ivory interior, while the 4×4 models will now come with a choice between the two. There is no additional cost for choosing the Mocha Brown theme.
Deliveries of the Thar Roxx will commence during the Dussehra festival, with models featuring ivory interiors arriving by the end of October 2024. Customers opting for the Mocha Brown interiors will have to wait until January 2025. Mahindra has assured a smooth delivery process and will communicate expected delivery timelines within three weeks of Dussehra.
Mahindra has approximately 30,000 units of the Thar Roxx in stock and a monthly production capacity of 9,500 units. This includes 6,500 units of the Thar Roxx and 3,000 units of the three-door Thar. Given the massive demand, waiting periods are expected to range between one to two years, depending on the variant and production capacity.
The Thar Roxx is built on Mahindra’s new M-GLYDE platform and shares engine options with the Scorpio-N. It is available with both petrol and diesel engine options, including the 2.0-litre mStallion petrol engine producing 174 Bhp and 380 Nm of torque, and the 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine generating 175 hp and 370 Nm of torque in the 4×4 variant. Both engines come with manual and automatic transmission options.
With its competitive pricing and extensive feature list, the Mahindra Thar Roxx is poised to dominate both urban streets and rugged off-road trails, positioning itself as a versatile family SUV.
