Mahindra Thar ROXX: New Teaser Video Released Ahead Of Launch
One of the most anticipated launches from Mahindra this year is the 5-door version of the Mahindra Thar. Mahindra will officially launch the SUV on August 15. Mahindra calls the 5-door Thar the Thar ROXX. In the last couple of weeks, we have seen several teaser videos and images of the Thar ROXX. Now, Mahindra has released a new image that shows what the all-new Thar ROXX would look like on the road.
The video has been shared by Mahindra Thar on their YouTube channel. In this video, we see a long line of people waiting on both sides of the road in different parts of the country. They are all impatient and eager to get a glimpse of the new SUV. In this video, Mahindra has tried to show how people across the country are excited and eagerly awaiting this new SUV.
The video then shows the Thar doing donuts in some remote mountain location in India, and after that, the SUV starts rolling on the road. We get a glimpse of the front and side of the SUV. The front features circular LED DRLs and projector headlamps. The design of the front grille is different from the 3-door version.
The SUV seen in the video is finished in all-black, which makes it a bit more challenging to see details. There are rugged black claddings around the wheel arches and fenders. The front bumper has integrated LED fog lamps.
Coming to the side profile, you notice the main attraction: the extended wheelbase and the 4-door layout. The SUV looks clean in the video, and the placement of the Mahindra Thar ROXX badge is on the pillar. The ROXX will only be offered with a hard top. The design of the rear quarter glass is not clear in this video.
In pictures and render images that surfaced online, we saw that the rear quarter glass was given a triangular design, which did not look too good, at least in the images. We would be in a better position to comment on this after seeing it in person.
The Mahindra Thar ROXX is approximately 22 percent longer than the 3-door version, which means it offers more space inside. One of the major problems with the 3-door version is the lack of space in the rear seat and the difficulty in accessing it. Both these issues are expected to be resolved in the Thar ROXX.
The SUV gets ample features like a touchscreen infotainment system, a slightly redesigned dashboard, a fully digital instrument cluster, automatic climate control, Level 2 ADAS, a panoramic sunroof, and more. The Mahindra Thar ROXX will be offered with three engine options. The lower variants will be powered by a 1.5-liter turbocharged diesel engine. This engine will be offered with a manual gearbox and a 2WD option only.
The higher variants of the Mahindra Thar are expected to get a 2.0-liter mStallion turbocharged petrol engine and a 2.2-liter turbocharged mHawk diesel engine.
Both these engine options will be offered with manual and automatic transmission options. Just like the 3-door version, Mahindra might offer the 2.0-liter petrol engine with the lower 2WD variants. The higher versions will get a proper 4×4 system.
