Mahindra has announced attractive discounts on the Thar and XUV 400 for November 2024. The year-end discounts on these SUVs go up to 3 lakh rupees. The Thar gets the biggest cuts and maximum benefits. Models like the recently launched Thar ROXX, and XUV 3XO have been exempted from getting any discounts or benefits, as they already command long waiting periods due to high demand. Waiting spans for certain variants of these extend up to a year. Let’s take a closer look at Mahindra discounts.

Discounts on the 3-door Mahindra Thar go up to 3 lakh, on the top-spec 4×4 variants. The Thar comes with two powertrains- a 2.0L turbocharged petrol and a 2.2L diesel. The petrol variants offer more benefits than the diesel. At present, the 3-door Thar has its price in the Rs. 11.35 lakh to Rs. 17.60 lakh (ex-showroom) range. Both RWD and 4WD versions are on sale. The SUV had got price cuts and benefits in previous months as well.

The Thar ROXX has been a huge success for Mahindra. The 5-door SUV is currently in high demand. The booking period has reached over a year in some areas and for select variants. However, this doesn’t stop people from going for this SUV. The ROXX definitely has an upper hand over the 3-door Thar, on most grounds. It makes sense to prefer it over the 3-door. This demand has also led to the 3-door losing its popularity. It is likely an effort to keep sales strong that Mahindra announced big cuts and benefits on the Thar.

The 3-door Thar continues to be a niche offering, with slight compromises on everyday usability and practicality. It is, however, extremely capable of off-roading. Even though it has two rows of seats, it is better had as a two-seater SUV- courtesy of its two-door design and compromised rear room. The ROXX gets the same engine-gearbox combinations as the 3-door but in improved forms. The key difference, however, is in the cabin experience and livability.

The ROXX c0mes with many modern features and technology. You get things like a larger touchscreen infotainment system, push-button start, height adjustable driver’s seat, rear AC vents, 3-point seat belts for all five passengers, wireless charger, 60:40 split rear seat, USB c-port charging and more. You can comfortably have the ROXX as your only car for the family- a privilege that the 3-door form doesn’t get to enjoy.

Next up, the XUV 400- Mahindra’s first electric SUV, also gets discounts of up to 3 lakh this month. These can be had in the form of cash cuts and exchange bonuses. While you might attribute the size of benefits to the year-end clearance, an upcoming facelift to the EV is a reason too. Mahindra is readying a facelift to the 400, which we presume is based on the 3XO, (meaning it would stand shorter in length than the outgoing 400) and with similar design and cabin layouts.

When launched, this would replace the outgoing EV. This imminent launch could also have contributed to the hefty discounts. Mahindra has been offering heavy discounts on the XUV 400 for the past few months.

In the remaining portfolio, the Bolero Neo offers benefits of up to Rs. 1.20 lakh. The maximum you can save on the Scorpio N is just Rs 50,000- on select variants and powertrain choices. An exchange bonus of Rs. 40,000 applies to the XUV 700. The AX7 and AX7 L variants, however, get massive price cuts of Rs. 2.20 lakh.
