The Mahindra Treo electric three wheeler - popularly called autorickshaw in India - is transforming last mile mobility. One such story is from Kerala - a state that is adopting electric mobility in a big way.

Miss Seena, a woman autorickshaw driver from Kerala, depicts how she went from home maker to an autorickshaw driver. Miss Seena can be seen dropping school kids home, and also inspiring women to follow in her footsteps. The video below shows just that. It ends with four women from Kerala posing proudly beside their autorickshaws.

Here are two more videos from across India that show the Mahindra Treo is taking last mile mobility towards a cleaner, greener future, impacting lives in the process and creating micro entrepreneurs.

In the first video, Sagar, an entrepreneur who owned a small eatery in Aurangabad, Maharashtra, had to take up autorickshaw driving after a business setback. He purchased a Mahindra Treo electric three wheeler in 2022, and his business did so well that he bought another autorickshaw - a Treo Plus with a higher range of 150 kilometers, compared to the Treo's 130 kilometers. Sagar is so fond of his two Treos that he calls them his brothers.

The final video shows Satnam Singh, an autorickshaw driver from Amritsar, who used to drive a diesel autorickshaw for 22 years. Mr. Singh says that the Mahindra Treo has been a total game changer for him, and that he no longer goes in search of passengers but the passengers themselves come to him.

He says that this has been made possible thanks to the Treo's peppy performance, smooth and silent drive, leading to passengers preferring electric autorickshaws over diesel autorickshaws. Mr. Singh adds that he's comfortably doing about 130 kilometers every day in the Treo, and the profits he's managed to earn from the electric autorickshaw is now helping him plan a surprise motorcycle gift for his son.

Not Just a Ride—A Livelihood

The Mahindra Treo, known for its low running costs and zero tailpipe emissions, was chosen for its reliability and suitability for short-distance travel across all kinds of terrains.

Clean, Quiet and Community-Driven

From a sustainability perspective, the move to electric mobility couldn’t have been better timed. The Treos have clocked thousands of kilometres without a drop of diesel, cutting down noise pollution and carbon emissions.

The Bigger Picture

Electric three-wheelers may not have the sheer appeal of high-end EVs, but in multiple places across rural and urban India, they’re changing lives, one ride at a time.
