Mahindra Scorpio Classic Boss Edition Unveiled

The country’s largest SUV manufacturer, Mahindra Automotive, in order to boost the sales of the Scorpio Classic, has launched a new Boss Edition model. This brand new Scorpio Classic Boss Edition is being offered with a ton of exterior and interior cosmetic changes. Mechanically, it will remain the same. At the moment, Mahindra has not revealed the pricing of this new limited edition model.
First off, let’s talk about the additions on the exterior of the Mahindra Scorpio Classic Boss Edition. The most noticeable highlight on the front fascia is the addition of a dark chrome finish on the grille. It also gets a dark chrome applique on the front bonnet scoop.
There is also a silver skid plate on offer with some more dark chrome on the fog light housings. A front bumper add-on is also being offered. The rest of the front looks standard with projector headlights, DRLs, and the new twin peaks logo. Overall, these additions at the front make this SUV look more premium and aggressive.
Moving on to the additions on the side profile and rear end, the new Mahindra Scorpio Classic Boss Edition gets dark chrome side indicators, door handles, rear quarter glass, and tail lamp applique. The rear reflectors also get the same dark chrome treatment along with a black powder-coated rear guard.
On the inside, the list of updates is fairly small. The new Mahindra Scorpio Classic Boss Edition comes with new black seat covers with matching black-themed upholstery. It also gets new seat pillows and a comfort kit with cushions and pillows for passengers. There is also a reverse parking camera on offer as well.
As mentioned above, the Mahindra Scorpio Classic Boss Edition does not get any updates under the bonnet. It still comes powered by the same 2.2-litre diesel engine, which produces a maximum power of 132 PS and 300 Nm of peak torque. This model is available with a 6-speed manual transmission.
Mahindra is yet to announce the pricing for the new Scorpio Classic Boss Edition. However, at the moment, the base Scorpio Classic S variant starts at Rs 13.61 lakh. Then, there is the S 9-seater variant, which is priced at Rs 13.86 lakh.
Apart from these, there are S11 7-seater and 9-seater variants priced at Rs 17.34 lakh and Rs 17.41 lakh, respectively. As for the competition, the Mahindra Scorpio Classic currently does not have any direct rivals. Earlier, this popular SUV used to have a fierce battle with the Tata Safari.
However, after Tata Motors ditched the ladder-on-frame chassis and switched to monocoque units, the Mahindra Scorpio Classic and its newest sibling, the Scorpio-N, have been competing in a segment of their own.
Both of these SUVs have managed to rival the smaller monocoque compact SUV models like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, and others. Along with this, they are also competing with the much more expensive Toyota Fortuner and MG Gloster as well.
Many people might have noticed that Mahindra, along with many other companies, is offering a lot of limited edition models at this time of year. Well, this begs the question: are these limited editions really limited?
The short answer is that no, these limited edition models are nothing but a marketing gimmick to sell off old inventory. As you may already be aware, automakers are currently sitting on Rs 73,000 crore worth of unsold cars.
So, in order to push out these vehicles, a lot of manufacturers are offering heavy discounts and these so-called limited edition models. Now, does that make these vehicles not worth it? The answer to this depends on the buyer. If you think you are getting your money’s worth, you can opt for these models. Or you can simply opt for the standard variants and avoid paying extra money.
