Mahindra has recently been releasing teasers of its upcoming concepts. A video shared on its official handles pointed at as many as four new concepts set to be unveiled on August 15,2025, at the Freedom NU event. The Vision SXT was one of the concepts shown in the teaser. A new video shared by Mahindra shows more visual cues of the Vision SXT. These confirm that it will be the production form of the Scorpio-N-based pickup truck.

The newest teaser shows the rear design of the concept. The tail lamp design, tailgate design and portions of the rear bumper are shown in this. Parts of the dual spare wheels (that sit in the vehicle's cargo bed) can be seen as well. These make us conclude that the SXT will be a development of the global Pik-up concept showcased previously. More importantly, it is likely to be an all-electric offering.

More Observations From The Vision SXT Teaser

The SXT will be a vision car, not a production form. It will, however, borrow several of its design cues from the carmaker's previous Global Pik-Up concept. We have seen the resemblance in the two teasers that have been out. The previous teaser showed the vision car to have a clamshell bonnet, an upright stance and a boxy design.

Mahindra has been testing camouflaged mules of the Scorpio-based lifestyle pickup truck in India. Sightings of these are becoming increasingly frequent. This confirms that the Vision car and the Scorpio-N-based pickup are two different products.

A Closer Look At Mahindra's Global Pik-Up Concept

Mahindra showcased the global pik-up concept in South Africa in August 2023. It had a lot of styling cues borrowed from the Scorpio-N. The production model is internally called Z121. It will be based on a new generation ladder-frame platform.

The concept's design looked interesting. Though it was based on the Scorpio-N, areas like the grille, headlamps and front bumper differed sharply from those of the Scorpio-N in the way they look. The concept had a grille that was much larger. The production form of this truck is expected to retain this grille design, as confirmed by various spy shots.

The concept further had a massive bash plate, a different front bumper and tow hooks. Areas like the bonnet, fenders and front doors resemble those of the SUV. The Global Pik-Up also featured a snorkel, a roof rack and a light bar as well. It had a double cabin layout. Spy shots, however, showed both single-cabin and double-cabin versions being tested.

The production form is expected to come with features like Level 2 Autonomous Driving, semi-automatic parking, sunroof and 5G-based connectivity features. The safety suite will have advanced features like Trailer Sway Mitigation.

Talking of the powertrain and mechanical details, the production truck will house Mahindra's second-generation all-Aluminium mHawk diesel engine under its hood. (Indian market will likely get the turbocharged petrol engine as well) It will offer two gearbox choices- a 6-speed manual and an Aisin-sourced 6-speed automatic. The lifestyle pickup truck will also come with a shift-on-the-fly 4WD (four wheel drive) system. There will be four terrain modes on offer as well- Normal, Grass-Gravel-Snow, Mud-Rut and Sand.

When launched in India, it will compete with the likes of Isuzu D-Max VCross and the Toyota Hilux. In addition to India, Mahindra will sell the Z121 truck in various countries like South Africa and Australia. In markets like the ASEAN region, petrol is the preferred fuel option for pickup trucks. In these markets, Mahindra intends to offer this truck with the same mStallion petrol engine as the Scorpio-N.
