What Are Mahindra's Vision.T And Vision.S? We Explain

Mahindra has sent out invites for a grand product showcasing, scheduled to happen on August 15, 2025. The event this year will be called the Freedom_NU. The carmaker has also been releasing teaser videos of some of the slated reveals. Two vision cars called the Vision-T and Vision-S have now been teased, and people have already started talking about these. Mystery still remains around what these actually are, and what the production forms would look like. So, what are Vision S and Vision T? Here are our best speculations...
Before we start, here is some background. Mahindra has announced that they would unveil their all-new SUV platform this Independence day. We know that this will be a modern, front-wheel drive (FWD) architecture that will form the base of the new-generation Bolero. The monocoque chassis will have support for electrification as well. This means that Mahindra could build hybrids with this, if there is demand for these in the years ahead, or in the international markets
This is likely to be the closer-to-production guise of the Thar.E concept (Thar EV) shown in August 2023. Mahindra seems to have a format or pattern to their teasers. Both teasers released so far start by showing four wide colour bars- White, Yellow, Orange and a shade of Grey. The Vision T's teaser has a White theme to it.
A closer look at it reveals interesting design traits of the upcoming vision car. The Vision.T seems to have strong body lines, angular edges, flared wheel arches, and a boxy hood with visible latches. It will have rugged all-terrain tyres. Chunky tyres and flared wheel arches were both seen on the Thar.e as well. This could thus be an all-electric offroader. It could indeed be an iteration of the Thar.E.
Here's another possibility. The Thar.E was, in fact, a five-door electric SUV. What if the vision.T is a 3-door off-roader EV? Like how the Thar family now has both the three-door and five-door version co-exist... Though less likely, this remains a possibility.
The Thar.E concept showcased previously had a futuristic cabin design. It featured an upright, driver-oriented dashboard, low-range controls, large rectangular driver's display and touchscreen, and a two-spoke steering wheel. It remains to be seen which of these would make it to the new concept.
Mahindra had based the Thar.E on the INGLO P1 platform, a customised version of the INGLO that underpins the outgoing BE 6 and XEV 9e. The Vision T will likely come with a dual-motor setup.
In the teaser video released by the carmaker, we see the Vision-S in a Yellow colour theme. From the design cues shown in the video, we suspect it to be the Scorpio Electric. The 'S' in its name further strengthens this speculation. It could either be based on the INGLO platform or more likely be underpinned by the new 'Freedom_NU platform'. In the final few moments of the teaser, we see both the EV and ICE logos of Mahindra flash side by side. This further strengthens this belief.
Another set of speculations say that the Vision S could be the Scorpio-based electric pickup truck. The Scorpio-N pickup truck was expected to be called Scorpio-X. So, it would have made more sense to name it the Vision X.
The opening pattern shown in the teaser video has two more shades left- the Orange and the grey. This could mean that Mahindra could have more vision cars in their arsenal for showcasing at the Freedom_NU event. More teasers could be out in the upcoming days.
