Mahindra To Launch XEV 7e This Year, XUV700 Facelift Early Next Year

Mahindra Automotive is currently seeing a surge in the sales of its SUVs and commercial vehicles. Most of it has been credited to the reduction in GST and the festive season. Now, to make sure that the momentum of these sales continues, the company is gearing up for the launch of the XEV 7E, which will be the electric version of the XUV700. Also, the facelifted XUV700 will be launched as well.
Recently, during an interview with CNBC-TV18, Nalinikanth Gollagunta, CEO of the Auto Division at Mahindra and Mahindra, shared a lot of insights into the sales and upcoming Mahindra SUVs. It has now been confirmed that the electric version of the Mahindra XUV700 — the XEV 7E — will be launched this year. Presently, the exact dates have not been announced.
In addition to this, it has also been revealed that the facelifted iteration of the XUV700 will be launched early next year in 2026. During the interview, Gollagunta also shared the sales figures for the month of September. He highlighted that the company domestically sold 56,233 units of SUVs, marking a 10 percent year-on-year growth.
Meanwhile, the sales of commercial vehicles were at 26,728 units, which helped achieve a year-on-year growth of 18 percent. He added that during the first nine days of Navratri, Mahindra dealers reported 60 percent growth in SUV demand and 70 percent growth in commercial vehicles. Also, the share of electric vehicle sales has gone from 2–3 percent in Q4 of last year to 8 percent this year.
Mahindra has reached the final stages of road testing for the XEV 7E. Recently, a test mule of the XEV 7E was spotted getting charged at a public charger. From the front, the XEV 7E will look exactly like the XEV 9E, featuring a connecting LED DRL that will span from one side to the other. There will also be LED headlights, fog lights, and a closed-off grille.
Moving on to the side profile, it will look exactly the same as the XUV700. However, a major differentiating factor will be the XEV 7E’s aeroblade-style 19-inch alloy wheels. As for the rear, the SUV will get the same set of LED taillights but will most likely boast revised internals. Also, there will be a unique rear bumper as well.
The XEV 7E will become the brand's first seven-seater electric SUV with three rows. As for the dashboard layout, it will be exactly the same as the XEV 9E. It will be offered with a triple-screen layout, multi-zone climate control, front powered and ventilated seats, a two-spoke steering wheel with an illuminated Mahindra logo, and a 16-speaker Harman Kardon premium audio system.
Coming to the main highlight of the XEV 7E — it will be its dual-motor setup, which will make it the first Mahindra SUV to get this configuration. Reportedly, these motors together are expected to make 325–350 bhp of power and 380–450 Nm of torque. Battery pack options will most likely include 59 kWh and 79 kWh units.
Soon after the launch of the XEV 7E, the company will also launch the facelifted XUV700 next year. It will feature an updated front fascia, new LED headlights and DRLs, new alloy wheels, and revised front and rear bumpers. The major update will be on the inside, as it will also get the same interior as the XEV 9E.
