Near Production-Ready Mahindra XEV 7e Electric SUV Spotted On Test

Mahindra's focus on electric SUVs is set to intensify in the coming months. We will get to see at least four exciting electric SUV concepts (vision cars) at the Freedom_NU event scheduled for August 15, 2025. The Indian auto major is also expected to showcase (if not launch) the production form of XEV 7e- the XUV 700-based electric SUV. The prototype of this was shown previously at a different event. With days left for the official unveil, road trials of the XEV 7e have become more frequent. In the latest video, we get to see the near-production-ready form of EV.
The new video starts by showing a heavily camouflaged test mule standing still on a crowded road. It is likely at a traffic junction, possibly waiting for the lights to go green and for the surrounding vehicles to start moving. Initially, we get a good look at the front fascia's design. The styling on this vehicle stands close to what was seen on the previous prototype.

It gets the full-width LED light bar and inverted L-shaped DRLs that extend downwards on either side. These have, however, been neatly concealed by the camo on the test car. These, the headlights and the closed-off front grille, resemble the ones on the XEV 9e. The headlamps here are kept exposed.
We can also see the radars and camera units of the ADAS system. Like the 9e, this EV will also come with a five radar-based ADAS suite. In addition to these, parking sensors can also be seen on both the front and rear bumpers. Later in the video, we also see the wheels of the 700-based EV. These have an aero-optimised design and are shod with low-resistance tyres. Not much of the wheel design can be comprehended due to the camouflage.
The rear design has a strong resemblance to that of the XUV 700. The tail lamps and most areas of the tailgate remain almost unchanged. It looks like the rear bumper, C-pillar treatment, and the spoiler design have been tweaked slightly. Save for the wheels, almost all design details from the side view are identical to the XUV 700.
This video gives limited view of the interior. However, we can see that the mule has a massive panoramic sunroof, just like the XEV 9e. Plus, a short glimpse of the 'coast-to-coast triple screen setup' comprising three 12.3-inch displays can also be had.
Expectations around the XEV 7e are high. It is likely to borrow a lot of features from the XEV 9e and will likely have the likes of a two-spoke steering wheel with illuminated logo, 16-speaker Harman Kardon sound system with Dolby Atmos, multi-zone climate control, powered and ventilated front seats with memory function and more. In fact, it is expected to get almost all the features that the 9e currently has on offer.
Like the BE6 and XEV 9e, the XEV 7e will also be underpinned by the INGLO platform. This high-voltage skateboard has been developed in-house, adhering to global benchmarks.
Though many expect it to come with the same set of battery packs- 59 kWh and 79 kWh, both sourced from BYD, Mahindra could pull off a last-minute surprise by offering a larger unit. The 7e will be a direct rival to the Harrier.EV and is expected to feature AWD (All Wheel Drive) system on its higher variants. The non-AWD variants are likely to get a rear axle-mounted electric motor. The RWD variants will have range figures comparable to those of the XEV 9e.
