Mahindra XEV 9e And BE6 Get A Big Update

Mahindra's electric SUV duo has received a significant software upgrade that addresses one of the most requested features from buyers. The XEV 9e and BE6 now come equipped with wireless Apple CarPlay capability, marking a major milestone for the company's flagship electric vehicles.
Fresh deliveries of both the XEV 9e and BE6 now include the wireless connectivity features as standard, ending months of uncertainty for customers who had been waiting for this functionality. Mahindra has confirmed that all factory-dispatched vehicles now come with fully updated software requiring no further patches, addressing earlier concerns about post-delivery updates.
The wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support is available across all variants of both vehicles, from the entry-level Pack One to the top-spec Pack Three. This represents a continuous improvement over the initial launch specification, where these features were promised to arrive later through software updates.
The connectivity features utilise Qualcomm's Snapdragon chipset and support the vehicles' advanced infotainment systems, which include multiple 12.3-inch displays and 5G connectivity. The integration also supports the vehicles' broader connected car ecosystem, which includes pre-installed entertainment apps and remote vehicle control features.
Current owners will likely have to take their vehicles to the nearest dealership to the software update. We have reached out to Mahindra and will update the story as soon as we hear from them.
Mahindra’s XEV 9e and BE6 electric SUVs represent distinct approaches to India’s evolving EV market.
The XEV 9e, priced from ₹21.9 lakh, blends coupe-inspired styling with a tech-centric cabin featuring triple 12.3-inch displays, augmented reality head-up projection, and Level 2+ driver assistance systems. Positioned as a luxury offering, it emphasises comfort with a 656 km range and premium amenities like a 16-speaker audio setup, targeting buyers seeking advanced connectivity in a futuristic package.
The BE6, starting at ₹18.9 lakh, adopts a sportier persona. Its rear-wheel-drive architecture enables a 6.7-second 0-100 km/h sprint, complemented by a “Boost” mode for temporary power bursts. The cabin’s fighter jet-inspired layout, sport-tuned suspension, and 683 km range cater to driving enthusiasts prioritising agility over outright luxury.
With the recently gained wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay integration, a notable gap in their initial launch specifications is addressed. While the XEV 9e emphasises tech-laden comfort with a focus on in-car entertainment, the BE6 leans into performance-oriented dynamics. Their contrasting identities reflect Mahindra’s strategy to diversify its electric portfolio, balancing innovation with accessibility as competition in India’s premium EV segment intensifies.
BE6 and XEV 9e generated quite some buzz at the launch. The two SUVs logged over 30,000 bookings in a single day. That, plus software refinements meant long-ish waiting period but reports suggest that Mahindra is ramping production. So, we expect waiting periods to come down. As per the last update, Mahindra has shipped over 11,000 units of the XEV 9e and BE6 combined. The XEV 9e has proven more popular, accounting for 59 per cent of bookings compared to 41 per cent for the BE6.
