The Mahindra XEV 9E electric SUV has been launched in India, and it is the brand’s most premium electric vehicle. It will start at Rs 21.9 lakh, which is an amazing price considering the value that it offers. Design

The Mahindra XEV 9E at the front gets a very clean yet bold fascia. It gets an edge-to-edge LED DRL, which gives it a very futuristic appearance. The LED headlights are vertically stacked in a triangular housing. Apart from this, there is the new Mahindra Infinity logo on the bonnet, which is illuminated. Also, like every EV, it gets a closed-off grille at the front.

Moving on to the side profile, the XEV 9E comes equipped with thick black claddings on the wheel arches and the doors. Apart from this, the SUV gets flush-type door handles for the front doors, and the rear doors get handles hidden in the C-pillar. Optional 20-inch aerodynamic alloy wheels add to the contemporary look. The standard version will get 19-inch wheels.

The rear of the XEV 9E is where it stands out. Unlike other SUVs, it gets a sloping roofline, which makes it look like a coupe. Also, like the front, the rear LED taillights extend from one end to the other. The gloss-black rear bumper, spoiler, and shark fin antenna add to the unique design.

Interior Design

Stepping inside the cabin, Mahindra has taken things up a notch. The new XEV 9E gets a unique three-screen setup, which has been named the Cinemascope Cockpit. This comprises three large touchscreens, each measuring 31.24 cm. One is a digital instrument gauge cluster, another is the central infotainment screen, and the third is for the front passenger.

The rear occupants also get two screens, which have been placed just behind the headrests of the driver and front passenger.

As for the center console, it gets a classy-looking high-gloss black finish. There are two cup holders, a new gear shifter with leather, an electronic parking brake, and a rotary ride mode selector.

The XEV 9E gets a premium audio system from Harman Kardon with various speakers, tweeters, woofers, and a subwoofer. It also comes with Dolby Atmos.

Mahindra is also offering the XEV 9E with VisionX Augmented Reality HUD, MAIA – Mahindra Artificial Intelligence Architecture, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295 processor, 24 GB RAM, and 128 GB internal storage.

There is also an Autopark feature, which can perform perpendicular, angular, and parallel parking with reverse assist.

Mahindra has added a lot of premium materials and sound deadening to reduce the interior NVH levels.

Another major highlight of the Mahindra XEV 9E is that it gets the Mahindra Eyedentity driver monitoring system.

Safety Features

In terms of safety features, the Mahindra XEV 9E comes with 7 airbags, a 360-degree camera, and a ton of other features.

It also gets ADAS Level 2+, which works with the help of 12 ultrasonic sensors, 5 radars, and 6 cameras. Its ADAS suite includes adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, and many others.

Platform and Powertrain

The Mahindra XEV 9E is based on the INGLO platform, which is a skateboard architecture. There are two battery pack options: 59 kWh and 79 kWh. The smaller battery pack offers 542 km of range, and the larger one offers 656 km of range.

With a DC fast charger, the 79 kWh battery can be charged from 20-80 percent in just 20 minutes. Apart from this, with an 11 kW AC charger, it will take 8 hours for the 79 kWh battery pack to be fully charged and 6 hours for the 59 kWh battery pack to be fully charged.

As for the motor, the XEV 9E will produce 282 bhp and 380 Nm of torque, and it will be offered only with an RWD layout.
