Mahindra XEV 9S: New Teaser Video Shows Reclining Rear Seats And Boss Mode

Mahindra is all set to launch another electric SUV, the XEV 9S, in the market. The SUV will be officially launched later this month. Before the official launch, Mahindra has been releasing several teaser videos where we get a glimpse of the cabin of the XEV 9S EV. Mahindra’s latest teaser gives us a look at the cabin, where we see a reclining function for the rear seats along with electrically adjustable front seats.
The video has been shared by Mahindra Electric Origin SUVs on their YouTube channel. In this video, we see teaser shots of the exterior of the SUV. The front of the SUV looks similar to the regular XEV 9E but, as we move to the rear, things slowly start to look different.
In fact, the silhouette of the XEV 9S looks different from the XEV 9E. It looks like Mahindra let go of the coupe-like design element to accommodate the third-row seats.
We see the massive panoramic sunroof in the video, and inside the cabin, we see light-coloured or ice-grey coloured perforated upholstery on the seats and other touchpoints. Coming to the video, the teaser mainly focuses on one feature that the XEV 9S will offer, and that is rear seat comfort.

As the XEV 9S is based on the INGLO EV platform, Mahindra has been able to develop an extremely spacious cabin for both the driver and occupants. The rear seat occupants can actually have a luxury car-like experience as it offers the Boss Mode, where the occupant can electrically adjust the co-driver seat using the buttons on the side of the seat. The rear also gets the recline function, which comes as an added advantage.
It remains to be seen if Mahindra will be offering the SUV with captain seats in the second row or not. We won’t be surprised if the side profile of the XEV 9S comes out looking similar to the XUV700 SUV. The rear will continue to offer all-LED tail lamps, but the design of the tail lamps will be different from the XEV 9E. It is probably going to look similar to the XUV700. The tailgate will have XEV 9S branding at the bottom.

The SUV is expected to offer all the features that are already present on the regular XEV 9E. The third-row seat is going to be the major difference. It is also going to be the first-ever 7-seater electric SUV in India. When it comes to the battery pack and range, Mahindra is likely to use the same setup as seen in the XEV 9E.
There will be a 59 kWh battery pack in the lower variant that generates 228 bhp and 380 Nm of torque. The 79 kWh battery variant generates 282 bhp and 380 Nm of peak torque. The electric SUV will offer a claimed driving range of anywhere between 500–650 km. As usual, Mahindra is expected to offer the XEV 9S at an attractive price tag. The official launch of the XEV 9S is scheduled for November 27.
