Mahindra XUV700 AX5 Select: What This Value-For-Money Variant Offers [Video]

Mahindra recently added two new variants to the XUV 700 lineup. These two variants were MX 7-seater and AX5 Select which is available in 7 seater configuration only. The main goal of Mahindra with these two variants is to make the 7 seater version of the XUV 700 even more affordable. Today, with the help of a YouTube video uploaded by Fuel Injected we will talk about the XUV 700 AX5 Select variant and understand what it offers.

First, let’s talk about the pricing. In the Indian market, the price of the XUV 700 starts at Rs. 13.99 lakhs ex-showroom for the base MX 5 seater trim while the top end AX7L AT AWD with the diesel engine costs Rs. 26.99 lakhs ex-showroom.

Meanwhile, the AX5 Select variant is priced at Rs. 16.89 lakhs for the petrol engine option with manual transmission. On the other hand, the diesel engine with the manual transmission costs Rs. 17.49 lakhs ex-showroom. The automatic variants are priced at Rs. 18.49 lakhs and Rs. 19.09 lakhs for the petrol and diesel respectively.

The video starts with the front profile of the SUV. At the front, a gloss black grille with silver inserts is offered. The headlights are reflector based halogen units. DRLs are offered in this variant but the fog lamps are missing. As this is a mid-spec trim, features such as ADAS, 360 degree camera and front parking sensors are not offered.

Regarding the side profile, alloy wheels are not offered in this trim. The car drives on 17-inch steel rims. The ORVMs are finished in gloss black and they are offered with integrated turn indicators and electric adjustment. The option to electrically fold ORVMs is not available in this trim.

The rear profile of the car offers LED taillights and other necessary features such as the rear wiper washer, defogger and reverse parking sensors. A reverse parking camera is not offered in this trim.

After showing the exterior, the host shows us the interior of the car. The interior of the AX5 Select variant looks premium with dual 10.25 inch displays. The infotainment screen offers wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The steering wheel is not leather wrapped but it offers multimedia controls. Necessary features such as leather wrapped steering wheel, Auto AC and cruise control are not offered. This variant offers push button start which is not even offered in the AX5 trim.

Surprisingly, this variant also offers a panoramic sunroof which is one of the most demanded feature in the Indian market. Talking about the third row, the host mentions that this space is suitable only for kids. Adults can sit as well but for short distances only. Amenities in the third row include AC vents with blower control, a 12V socket and cup holders.

Mahindra offers the XUV 700 with two engine options: a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine and a 2.2-litre diesel engine. Regarding the power figures, the 2.0-litre turbo petrol delivers 197 BHP of power and 380 Nm of torque.

On, the other hand, the diesel engine is available in two tunes: 153 BHP (lower variants) and 182 BHP (higher variants). This engine generates a torque output ranging from 360 Nm to 450 Nm, depending on the transmission. Both engines are mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed automatic transmission.
