Mahindra XUV700 Ebony Edition Launched At Rs 19.64 Lakh
Mahindra has been teasing us with videos of the upcoming Dark Edition version of the Mahindra XUV700 for the last couple of weeks. It looks like Mahindra will be calling the Dark Edition of the XUV700 the Ebony Edition in the market. Mahindra has now officially launched the XUV700 Ebony Edition at an attractive price of ₹19.64 lakh (ex-showroom).
Ebony Edition
The Ebony Edition is based on the standard XUV700 SUV, with minor updates to make it stand out from the rest. There are several exterior and interior changes that justify the Ebony name. The SUV is completely finished in a Stealth Black shade, which gives it a premium look.
On the outside, the front grille on the XUV700 Ebony Edition has been completely blacked out. The ORVMs and the 18-inch alloy wheels are also finished in the same black shade. The lower window garnish, which is usually finished in a brushed aluminum finish, has also been blacked out.
There is an Ebony Edition badge on the right fender and tailgate of the SUV. Apart from this, everything else on the SUV remains the same on the outside.
When Mahindra launched the XUV700, one of the suggestions raised by many customers and reviewers was about the light-colored interiors. The ivory-colored seat covers did look premium but were not practical to maintain in Indian conditions. With the Ebony Edition, Mahindra decided to address this issue and listen to its customers.
The Ebony Edition comes with all-black interiors. The seats are all finished in black, and similarly, the door pads, steering wheel, and dashboard are also black. There is a satin silver accent that runs across the dashboard. The steering wheel gets dark chrome accents, and the roof liner is finished in a light grey shade.
Mahindra is offering the Ebony Edition with the top-end AX7 and AX7 L variants of the XUV700. Prices for the XUV700 Ebony Edition start at ₹19.64 lakh (ex-showroom) and go up to ₹24.14 lakh (ex-showroom). Only the 7-seater version of the XUV700 is available in this new edition.
The Mahindra XUV700 is a popular SUV in its segment. It was first launched in 2021, and since its launch, Mahindra has sold over 2,50,000 units of the SUV. Even years after its launch, the Mahindra XUV700 still looks fresh in terms of design and features. The XUV700 was the first SUV to introduce Level 2 ADAS features in this segment. It is also the only SUV in the segment to offer AWD as an option.
The Mahindra XUV700 is available with a 2.0-liter turbocharged petrol engine and a 2.2-liter turbocharged diesel engine. Both engines generate segment-leading power and torque figures.The petrol version generates 200 PS and 380 Nm of peak torque. The diesel version generates 182 BHP and 420 Nm of peak torque.
Both petrol and diesel engine options come with manual and automatic transmission choices. However, with the Ebony Edition, Mahindra is only offering the petrol engine with an automatic transmission in the AX7 L variant.
