Mahindra XUV700 Entry-Level And Mid Trims Get Price Cuts Of Up To Rs. 70,000

After cutting prices on the top-end variants of the XUV700 to spur demand, Mahindra has turned its attention to the entry-level and mid-trims of the flagship crossover. The AX3 Diesel Automatic 7 Seat and AX5 Diesel Automatic 5 Seat variants of the Mahindra XUV700 get a marginal price reduction of Rs. 20,000.
The AX5 Diesel 7 Seater gets a much bigger price drop of Rs. 70,000 while the manual variant of the AX5 Diesel 7 seat model gets a Rs. 50,000 price correction. As for petrols, the AX5 7 seat manual trims also get a price drop of Rs. 50,000. Prices of the Mahindra XUV700 AX5 Diesel 7 Seat model (the one with the maximum price cut) start from Rs. 20.89 lakh, ex-showroom.
The Mahindra XUV700 – despite the price cut – continues to have long waiting times as demand for the luxury crossover continues to be quite strong. The price cut should be seen as a move from Mahindra to push unsold stock of specific variants of the luxury crossover as inventory levels have been piling up at dealer stockyards for a few months now. The idea behind the discounts is to push this stock even as India enters the festive season – a period where car sales are typically at their highest levels.
The Mahindra XUV700 sold in India is available with two engine options – a 2 liter-4 cylinder mFalcon turbo petrol with 200 Bhp-380 Nm on tap and a 2.2 liter mHawk turbo diesel with 153 Bhp-360 Nm and 182 Bhp-450 Nm states of tune.
Both engines get 6 speed manual gearboxes as standard, and can also be specified with 6 speed torque converter automatic gearboxes as an option. While the petrol variants of the XUV700 are front wheel driven, the diesel trims of the crossover can also be specified with an all wheel drive layout.
A flagship SUV sold by Mahindra, the XUV700 is feature-rich. With beige interiors that give it a sense of luxury and premium-ness, the XUV700 gets a massive panoramic sunroof that further adds to the airiness of the cabin.
In terms of equipment, the luxury crossover offers dual-zone climate control, ventilated front seats, wireless charger, auto headlamps and wipers, 360-degree camera, a powered tailgate, Sony 3D sound system with 12 speakers, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility, built-in Alexa connectivity, Powered driver seat, cruise control, and keyless entry and start/stop (KESS) systems and two 10.25 inch screens – one for infotainment and the other for the driver’s digital instrument cluster.
The Mahindra XUV700 has received a full five star rating in the Global NCAP crash test, and safety features on board include ABS, traction control, electronic stability program, Level 2 ADAS, 360 degree camera and a sturdy bodyshell. In fact, the XUV700 was the first Mahindra SUV to offer radar-based Level 2 ADAS.
The Mahindra XUV700 rivals the Tata Safari in the 7 seat Indian luxury SUV segment. In terms of pricing, there’s a fair bit of price overlap between the XUV700, the Mahindra Scorpio-N and the just-launched Thar ROXX. Compact SUVs from other brands such as Hyundai and Kia also rival the XUV700 in price terms.
However, the Mahindra SUV is much larger and offers much better value in terms of features, performance and space. This is a big reason why the Mahindra XUV700 has been runaway hit from the word go. The latest set of discounts are expected to do their bit to further boost sales of Mahindra’s flagship offering.
