5 New Mahindra SUVs Lined Up For Launch

Mahindra & Mahindra now has a strong foothold in the Indian market. In the next 18–24 months, the homegrown carmaker is expected to commence a number of new launches. The proposed lineup will have both all-new products and facelifts/ refreshes. The carmaker will continue to expand its electric vehicle (EV) portfolio. Here are more details of what electric and Internal Combustion Engined (ICE) models are to be expected from Mahindra...
The current generation of the 3-door Mahindra Thar has been on sale for nearly five years now, having made its market entry in August 2020. It is thus time to give this popular SUV a notable update. Internally codenamed W515, the facelifted Thar is expected to be out in 2025. The refreshed SUV will take design and interior inspirations from the new ROXX, the five-door guise of the Thar.
Mechanically, it is expected to retain the same petrol and diesel engines paired with existing transmission options- a manual and an automatic. The 2.0L turbocharged petrol (mStallion) engine produces 150 hp and 320 Nm. The 2.2L turbocharged diesel engine (mHawk) on the other hand, is available in two states of tune- producing up to 130 hp and 300 Nm.
At launch, the second generation Thar (3-door) was available in hardtop, convertible and an optional soft top firms. It remains to be seen what direction Mahindra would take with the facelift.
Launched in 2021, the Mahindra XUV700 is the carmaker's flagship. Now, after four years of successful sales, Mahindra is preparing to roll out a facelifted version of the XUV, internally codenamed W616. Scheduled for launch in 2026, the updated XUV700 will feature design elements, and exterior and interior upgrades inspired by the BE6 and XEV 9e electric SUVs.
The mechanical setup is likely to remain unchanged. The petrol iteration comes with an output of 197 bhp (200 PS) at 5000 rpm and 380 Nm of torque at 1750-3000 rpm, while the 2.2L mHawk diesel engine has an output of up to 180hp and 420 Nm. Similar powertrain outputs could make it to the facelifts as well.
Mahindra is also working on the all-electric version of the XUV 3XO, expected to launch by late 2025. Spy shots suggest that the XUV 3XO EV will largely retain its petrol sibling’s styling, with minimal EV-specific tweaks like new badges. Positioned below the XUV400, the XUV 3XO EV will compete with the Tata Nexon EV and is expected to offer two battery options: a 34.5 kWh pack with 350+ km range and a 39.4 kWh pack with 450+ km range.
Expanding its born-electric lineup, Mahindra will introduce the XEV 7e by early 2026. Built on the INGLO platform shared with the BE6 and XEV 9e, the XEV 7e has already been partially revealed online. While detailed specs are still awaited, it is expected to offer 59 kWh and 79 kWh battery packs, promising a range of over 500 km. Pricing is likely to be between ₹20–25 lakh (ex-showroom).
Mahindra is also working on a 2025 update to the Scorpio N. The new SUV could receive more features and technology including the possible addition of an ADAS suite. At present, the Scorpio-N misses out on ADAS features. With more Mahindra models getting it lately, there is no reason that the carmaker would skimp with the new Scorpio-N. The refresh will continue with the current 2.0-litre turbo-petrol and 2.2-litre diesel engines.
