4 BIG Upcoming SUV Launches From Maruti, Mahindra, Hyundai And Tata Motors

The SUV segment in India is poised big launches and facelifts as major players, Maruti, Mahindra, Hyundai, and Tata Motors, prepare to launch new SUVs/facelifts, some of which are already quite popular. Therefore, expect tougher competition with better feature sets and more contemporary design in the coming months. And that would mean more choice, which we always like.
Maruti Suzuki is gearing up to introduce the Escudo by September 2025, with an anticipated price range of Rs 9.75-16 lakh. Positioned strategically between the compact Brezza and the more premium Grand Vitara, the Escudo is designed to fill a significant gap in Maruti's SUV lineup, offering a perfect blend of space, features, and affordability.
Constructed on the Global C platform, akin to the Grand Vitara, the Escudo promises a longer wheelbase for enhanced passenger and cargo space. With powertrain options that include a 1.5-litre petrol engine, a potential strong-hybrid variant, and even a CNG version, the Escudo is set to directly challenge established models like the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos.
Mahindra plans to unveil a completely reimagined Bolero on August 15, 2025, with the market launch expected in 2026. Likely to be priced between Rs 10-12 lakh, this new generation represents a significant departure from its predecessors, featuring a monocoque platform and offering a diverse range of powertrains, including petrol, diesel, hybrid, and electric options.
The design has been thoroughly updated, incorporating modern features like circular LED headlights and flush-fitting door handles, while maintaining the iconic boxy silhouette beloved by Bolero enthusiasts. With enhanced safety features and multiple seating configurations, the new Bolero aims to attract both traditional buyers and a newer, tech-savvy audience.
Hyundai is set to introduce a comprehensively updated Venue in October 2025, with expected starting prices at Rs 7.90 lakh. This second-generation model will incorporate design elements from the successful Creta, featuring a bold, futuristic appearance with vertically stacked LED headlights and a parametric grille.
Despite these aesthetic enhancements, the Venue will maintain its proven engine lineup, which includes 1.2-litre petrol, 1.0-litre turbo petrol, and 1.5-litre diesel options, while also exploring future hybrid variants. This strategy aims to ensure the Venue remains a compelling choice for a broad spectrum of buyers.
Tata Motors is preparing for the first significant update to the Tata Punch, slated for release between September and November 2025, with an expected price range of Rs 6-11 lakh. This facelift will bring the ICE model in line with the aesthetics of the recently launched Punch EV, featuring a redesigned front fascia and numerous interior enhancements, such as a larger touchscreen and a fully digital instrument console.
The Punch will continue to offer its dependable 1.2-litre petrol engine, along with a CNG option, underscoring Tata's commitment to both performance and environmental sustainability.
The anticipation building around the Maruti Escudo, the all-new Mahindra Bolero, the next-gen Hyundai Venue, and the Tata Punch facelift underscores the competitive nature of the Indian car market. Older models tend to quickly lose share as we have seen with Punch.
Carmakers need to continuously update models to keep them relevant. In that context, Punch and Venue are critical for Tata and Hyundai to regain lost ground. The more refined Bolero will likely expand the buyer set for Mahindra beyond its core rural audience. And Escudo will help Maruti Suzuki corner value seeker in the mid-size SUV market.
