Maruti Dzire Aquaplanes, Spins Out And Crashes: Driver Drives Off Like A BOSS!

Driving on wet roads is extremely tricky, and one has to be extremely careful while doing so. Most South Indian states are experiencing heavy rainfall, and many sections of the road are filled with water and, at times, have turned into pools. People driving on such roads have to be extremely careful as the chances of losing control and accidents increase in such situations. Here we have one such video from Kerala where a Maruti Dzire loses control on a wet road and crashes into the wall of a nearby house.

The video has been shared by Asianet News on their YouTube channel. According to the report, the accident happened in Kerala’s Pattambi in the Palakkad district. The accident was captured by a CCTV camera installed on the roadside. It is quite evident from the video that the area was experiencing heavy rainfall and the road was extremely wet.

There is not much traffic on the road. We only see a couple of bikers and an autorickshaw. Suddenly, we see a Maruti Dzire sedan coming in reverse from the right side of the screen. It is clear that the driver has lost control of the vehicle. The sedan crashes into the compound wall of a house.

If you look at the video carefully, the rear of the car went up in the air before hitting the wall and the tree. After hitting the tree, the sedan turned around. The front and rear bumpers of the sedan were probably damaged. It looks like the sedan was being driven at high speed, and the driver lost control on the wet road.

The driver was lucky that the front of the sedan did not suffer much damage. The driver probably panicked and, instead of stopping and checking the vehicle and the surroundings, simply drove the car off. The report mentions that the accident happened at around 9 a.m. and the car was going from Pattambi towards Perinthalmanna in Malappuram.

The car driver was extremely lucky that there were no other vehicles on the road when this accident happened. If the car had crashed into any other vehicle coming from the opposite direction, the damage and injuries might have been severe.

What happened here?

The reason why the Maruti Dzire lost control was the speed. If you look carefully, the sedan had lost control even before it entered the range of the camera. The car came in reverse and crashed into the wall. While driving on wet roads, one has to be extremely careful due to the risk of aquaplaning.

What is aquaplaning? It happens when a thin layer of water forms between the tire and the road. When this happens, the tire, which is the only point of contact with the road, stops responding to steering feedback, and the car loses control. The risk of aquaplaning increases as the speed of the vehicle increases.

It can happen on wet roads if you are driving at high speed or even when you drive through a pool of water on the road because the treads on the tire are not getting enough time to push the water out and maintain grip.

What should you do?

If you find yourself in such a situation, the first thing to do is take your foot off the accelerator. Never try to correct the steering in such situations, as it is not going to help in any way. Once the speed comes down, the tires will once again come in contact with the road, and you will regain control. It is recommended to check the health of your car’s tires before the monsoon to avoid such incidents.
