Maruti Suzuki has been working on their electric vehicle for quite some time. The first electric vehicle from Maruti is going to be the eVX SUV and we have already seen the concept version of the same few years ago. Maruti is extensively testing the EV and we have spotted the same on our roads several times. Maruti Suzuki and Toyota have been in a partnership for a very long time. The electric SUV which is set to be unveiled next month is also jointly developed by both brands. In a latest statement released by the manufacturer, they announced that the electric SUV will be sold internationally under a Toyota badge. The SUV will be manufactured at Maruti Suzuki’s manufacturing facility in Gujarat.

In the statement, Suzuki Motor President Toshihiro Suzuki said, “I’m grateful that the collaboration between the two companies has further deepened in this way. While continuing to be competitors, we will deepen our tie-up towards solving social issues, including the realisation of a carbon-neutral society through a multi-pathway approach.

Few months ago, we came across a report that said the production of the eVX SUV has been delayed by at least 5 months due to some issues. It is going to be a mid-size SUV and we know that the SUV will be 4.3 metres long, 1,800 mm wide and 1,600 mm tall. The SUV will be of the same size as the current flagship SUV Grand Vitara.

The electric SUV will come with projector LED headlamp, closed front grille, low friction tyres, alloy wheels, LED tail lamps, connected LED bar and so on. The interior the eVX production version is expected to be entirely different from the ICE version. We expect it to look premium with extremely spacious cabin.

The SUV will also come with large touchscreen infotainment system, 360 degree camera, HUD, panoramic sunroof and so on. The SUV is also likely to get electrically adjustable seats, electric parking brake, flat bottom steering, ADAS and many more features.

At the moment, we have no information about the battery pack options of the eVX. However we assume Maruti will offer the eVX with a 45 kWh and a 60 kWh battery pack. It could also offer it with single or dual-motor All-Wheel Drive (AWD) configurations.

The bigger battery pack version is expected to offer a range of 550 km while the smaller version might offer around 415 km of range. We’ll get a clear picture about the same during the launch next month. The first electric SUV from Maruti is expected to be priced at around Rs 25 lakh.
