Maruti Suzuki Jimny discounts are back. The Jimny 5-door was one of the most anticipated models from Maruti, launched in the market last year. However, it is not performing as well as expected. Only a section of buyers who want a small 4×4 SUV are opting for the Jimny. Maruti did offer year-end discounts on the Jimny last year, which helped them a bit in terms of sales. Once again, Maruti Suzuki has come forward with another set of discounts for the Jimny. In this new offer, Maruti is offering a maximum discount of up to Rs 2.5 lakh on this SUV.

Maruti Suzuki is offering discounts for both Zeta and Alpha variants of the Jimny. The Zeta variant of the SUV gets a consumer discount of Rs 50,000. The Alpha variant, on the other hand, had an existing consumer discount of Rs 1.5 lakh until June this year. After June 21st, the manufacturer decided to make this deal more interesting by increasing the discount amount by 1 lakh. This brings the total discount on the Maruti Jimny’s Alpha variant to Rs 2.5 lakh.

This means the Jimny is now much more affordable compared to its rival Thar. The Mahindra Thar’s price starts at Rs 11.34 lakh, ex-showroom, but that is for the RWD version. The Maruti Jimny, on the other hand, is available only in the 4×4 version. As mentioned above, this helps in making the Jimny a lot more attractive. After the discount, the price for the top-end manual version of the Jimny is around Rs 13.3 lakh on-road and Rs 14.4 lakh on-road for the automatic version.

The Maruti Jimny is powered by a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine that generates 105 PS and 134 Nm of peak torque. The engine is mated to a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed automatic transmission. The SUV also gets a proper 4×4 system to conquer off-road sections.

Why The Discounted Jimny Is A Great Buy Over The Thar!

Here are some of the reasons why we think the discounted Jimny is a great buy over the Thar:

One of the main reasons why people were shying away from buying the Jimny was because of its steep pricing. With the discounts in place, the SUV has become a lot more accessible. As we know, the Jimny is only available with a petrol engine. The on-road price for the Thar petrol manual version in Noida is around 16.64 lakh, whereas the Jimny can be bought for a price of Rs 13.3 lakh on-road.

Another reason is comfort. Compared to the Thar, the Jimny is more comfortable on bad roads.

The Mahindra Thar is a 3-door SUV, while the Jimny has 5 doors. This makes the Jimny a lot more practical. We know that Mahindra will be launching a 5-door version of the SUV soon in the market. However, for the time being, the Jimny is the only 5-door practical option available to customers.

Just like any Japanese car in the market, the Jimny is also extremely reliable. The overall fit and finish of the SUV are also decent. Additionally, more aftermarket accessories are available for the Jimny as it is also offered in the international market.

Maruti is also offering 6 airbags as standard with the Jimny, while the Mahindra Thar only gets 2.
