4 New Maruti Suzuki SUVs Launching In 2025: Grand Vitara 7-Seater To Tata Punch Rival

Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) is preparing to up its SUV game in India. There is a slew of launches planned, spanning across segments and price caps. These launches include ICE, EV and hybrid models. Here is a quick look at 4 upcoming SUVs from Maruti Suzuki next year.
The eVX will be Maruti Suzuki’s first EV offering. This electric SUV will be almost as large as the outgoing Grand Vitara in dimensions- almost 4.3m in length, with a wheelbase of 2700 mm. It will likely feature EV-spec design that gets LED projector headlamps, a closed front grille with the Suzuki logo, muscular bumpers, pillar-mounted rear door handles, electrically adjustable ORVMs with integrated turn indicators and LED tail lamps.
The EV will have a futuristic cabin that packs ample equipment. Expected features are a large floating-type touchscreen infotainment system, perforated leatherette upholstery, an all-new design for the dashboard and control switches and rotary dials for drive mode selection.
The vehicle currently codenamed YY8, will be based on a new skateboard platform called 27PL- co-developed with Toyota. The production form could offer two battery choices- 45 kWh and 60 kWh. The larger will be able to deliver up to 500-550 km in range while the smaller could give around 400 km. Maruti will likely price the eVX competitively.
Another highly anticipated Maruti SUV is the Grand Vitara 7 seater. Known to arrive in the first quarter of 2025, this vehicle will share its underpinnings with the existing Grand Vitara. Internally called Y17, the vehicle will have a design that’s heavily derived from the five-seater. On the inside, there will be more room and features. Like many of its rivals, this vehicle will also be available in both 6-seater and 7-seater forms.
The seven-seater Grand Vitara will likely come with the same 1.5-litre four-cylinder mild hybrid petrol (K15C) and 1.5-litre three-cylinder strong hybrid petrol engines as the five-seater. It could even be offered with the CNG powertrain.
The micro-SUV space is currently dominated by the Tata Punch, closely followed by Hyundai Exter. Immense potential exists in this segment, and Maruti Suzuki will likely make its foray into it as well. It is expected to launch a Punch rival that will be compact in dimensions, look good and pack ample features and equipment inside. The target crowd could be urban dwellers. It will likely have both petrol and hybrid powertrains.
The Fronx- arguably the best-looking car from MSIL today, is known to get a facelift next year. The new SUV (rear crossover) will have a reworked front fascia with new bumpers and a revised headlamp design. While more details of exterior changes are sparse, the cabin will pack even more attention to detail, and a sense of luxury on the new model. More upmarket features could be added to it, such as a sunroof.
The Fronx was first launched in 2022. It is very unusual for Maruti Suzuki to come up with a facelift within two years of launch. There is a reason why this is happening with the Fronx.
The manufacturer is currently developing a series hybrid system for use in its future portfolio. In this system, the wheels will be powered by an electric motor at all times, and the engine will be used as a generator to produce charge for the motors. The battery pack size will be 1.5-2 kWh. We have talked in detail about the Fronx HEV in a previous article. The Z12E three-cylinder engine that is used on the new Swift will find a place on the HEV as well. It will have significant improvements in fuel efficiency. A mileage of 35 kilometres per litre can be expected.
