6 New Maruti Suzuki Strong Hybrid Cars Lined Up For Launch: Details

The country’s largest carmaker, Maruti Suzuki, is on track to become the brand with the most strong hybrid vehicles in India. For this, the company is working on the development of several strong hybrid models in India. Today, we have compiled a list of all these vehicles, which will be launched by Maruti Suzuki in the coming years. So, without any delay, here are all the details.
The first vehicle on this launch roster of Maruti Suzuki’s strong hybrid cars is the 7-seater version of its already popular mid-size SUV, the Grand Vitara. This new SUV has been codenamed the Y17 and will debut in 2025. Maruti Suzuki aims to produce 45,000 units of this SUV.
It will be the only model in the coming period equipped with the series-parallel hybrid setup developed by Toyota, Maruti Suzuki’s long-term strategic partner. Once launched, the Grand Vitara 7-seater will compete with the Tata Safari and Mahindra XUV700 in India.
Another strong hybrid vehicle that will debut next year is the Maruti Suzuki Fronx facelift. The super-popular crossover SUV from the brand will receive the strong hybrid treatment with a newly developed Series Hybrid from Suzuki.
This time, Suzuki has independently created this new strong hybrid powertrain. In this setup, the engine will not power the wheels. Instead, it will act as a generator for the electric motor, which will send power to the wheels.
The Fronx facelift strong hybrid has been codenamed the YTB. Reportedly, the company aims to produce around 40,000 units. The exact launch date of the Fronx facelift will be announced in the coming months.
Internally named the YTA, the Maruti Suzuki Baleno will likely borrow the same Series Hybrid setup from the Fronx facelift. It is to be noted that this model is expected to debut in 2026, and Maruti Suzuki aims to produce 60,000 units of this vehicle. It will also feature a completely new exterior and interior design.
Suzuki, in international markets, sells a very popular MPV called the Spacia. It is smaller than the Ertiga MPV and boasts a unique boxy shape. As per reports, the company is planning to launch a Spacia-based strong hybrid vehicle in India.
This model will also get the Series Hybrid powertrain. Codenamed the YDB, this MPV is expected to debut in 2026. Maruti Suzuki plans to sell 30,000 units of this MPV in India.
Although a mild hybrid version of the current fourth-generation Swift was recently spotted testing in India, it is not certain whether the company will offer it in India. However, new reports highlight that the company does plan to launch a new Swift strong hybrid in 2027. Maruti Suzuki is expecting to sell 60,000 units of this hatchback, which will feature the Series Hybrid powertrain setup.
Lastly, in 2028, Maruti Suzuki is planning to introduce the Dzire strong hybrid version. This too will feature the Series Hybrid powertrain and is expected to launch in 2028. Most likely, it will be based on the current-generation Dzire, which was recently launched.
For those who may not be aware of what a Series Hybrid powertrain is, Suzuki has been diligently working on the development of this new strong hybrid system in which the ICE engine acts as a generator. Currently, in the traditional series-parallel hybrid setup, the ICE engine powers the wheels with the help of battery power.
However, in the new Series Hybrid powertrain setup, the electric motor becomes the primary source of power for the wheels. The Series Hybrid system is very simple, more cost-effective than the current strong hybrid setup, smoother to ride, and quieter as well.
