India's Most Affordable Car Gets 6 Airbags: Costs Just Rs 4.23 Lakh

Safety has become a huge priority among Indian car buyers. As a result, India's most affordable car, the Maruti Suzuki Alto K10, has now become safer. Recently, it was announced by the brand that the Alto K10 will now come equipped with six airbags across all of its variants. This new safety upgrade comes at a cost of ₹16,000. The new pricing of the Alto K10 starts at ₹4.23 lakh and goes up to ₹6.21 lakh.
Maruti Suzuki has increased the pricing of the Alto K10 with six airbags by ₹6,000 to ₹16,000, depending on the variant. The base LXI variant and the LXI CNG variant have seen an increase of ₹6,000. Meanwhile, the VXI+ and VXI+ AMT variants' prices have increased by ₹10,000. Lastly, the VXI, VXI AMT, and VXI CNG have seen a price increase of ₹16,000.
With the new upgrade, the safety of the Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 has been improved significantly. It now gets six airbags as standard across all variants. Also, it gets three-point seat belts for all rear passengers. Prior to the upgrade, the rear middle seat occupant only received a lap seat belt. The car also comes with rear parking sensors and luggage retention crossbars to prevent cargo from moving.
Additionally, the new Alto K10 also comes equipped with the Electronic Stability Program (ESP), Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), and Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD). All of these features now make the Alto K10 a very safe vehicle by modern standards.
No other mechanical or aesthetic changes have been made to the Maruti Suzuki Alto K10. It still comes powered by a 1.0-litre petrol engine, which makes 67 bhp and 89 Nm of torque. It is offered with a five-speed manual transmission and an optional five-speed AMT gearbox.
Just a few weeks ago, Maruti Suzuki also launched the updated Brezza. The popular sub-compact SUV from the brand now gets six airbags as standard. The maximum price hike in the Brezza lineup is ₹15,000. The Brezza also gets other safety features such as ESP, ABS with EBD, Hill Hold Assist, and more.
Prices for the updated six-airbag version of the Brezza now start at ₹8.69 lakh (ex-showroom) and go up to ₹14.14 lakh (ex-showroom). Additionally, Maruti Suzuki has also updated the Celerio hatchback, and it now comes with six airbags as standard.
Speaking of the updates in Maruti Suzuki Arena cars, the company recently released a brand-new TVC featuring the updated Brezza and their newest brand ambassador, popular Bollywood actor Kartik Aaryan. He has replaced actor Varun Dhawan, who previously endorsed Maruti Suzuki Arena cars.
Apart from this news, Maruti Suzuki is gearing up for the launch of its first all-electric SUV, the e-Vitara, in India. This new model is expected to be officially launched next month in March. It will be offered with two battery pack options. The first is the smaller 49 kWh battery pack, which will come paired with a front-axle-mounted electric motor. It will be able to generate 144 bhp and 189 Nm of torque.
The SUV will also get a larger battery pack option of 61 kWh. This battery pack option will have two variants: a 174 bhp and 189 Nm torque variant, which will be front-wheel drive, and a dual-motor AWD variant with 184 bhp and 300 Nm of torque. The expected range of the top-of-the-line variant will be around 500 km.
