Maruti Suzuki has been the largest car manufacturer in India for decades now. Over the years, competition has increased in the market, and Maruti has also realized it. They are making necessary changes to make their products appealing to customers. One such addition that Maruti has recently made to their sub-4 meter SUV is the Brezza. The Maruti Brezza now comes with six airbags as standard.

It was only last week that we came across the news of Maruti updating the safety features on their family hatchback, the Celerio. After the update, the Maruti Celerio gets six airbags and also comes with three-point seat belts for all passengers. Following this update, Maruti decided to offer these safety features in their popular sub-4 meter SUV, the Brezza.

Most of the SUVs that compete against the Brezza in the segment already offer six airbags. Maruti customers have been demanding this update for quite some time, and it looks like Maruti has finally decided to offer it. With the addition of four more airbags, the prices for the Brezza will go up. The updated prices will reach dealerships once the older dual-airbag version stocks are over.

As per the report, there is going to be a maximum price hike of up to ₹15,000. The lower variants, like the LXI, will see a price rise of ₹15,000. The VXI and ZXI versions will see a price rise of around ₹5,500 and ₹11,500, respectively. Since the top-end ZXI Plus version of the Brezza already came with six airbags, it has not seen any price hike.

The Maruti Brezza has been one of the most popular SUVs in its segment. It has been in the market since 2016, and since then, it has received several updates in terms of styling and features. It was initially offered with a diesel engine option only. However, due to stricter emission and safety norms, Maruti had to discontinue the diesel engine.

It was then replaced with a new 1.5-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine. The engine is BS6-compliant, and Maruti also gave minor updates to the exterior. After this, Maruti launched the current version in the market. It is actually a heavily facelifted version with more features and space. Other than the six airbags that are offered as a standard feature, Maruti is offering other safety features like ESP, ABS with EBD, Hill Hold Assist, and more.

Maruti is also offering premium features like a 360-degree camera, HUD, cruise control, and automatic climate control with the higher variants of the Brezza. Maruti Suzuki is offering the Brezza with both petrol and CNG fuel options. The petrol version of the Brezza is available with a 5-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic transmission option.

The CNG version of the SUV also uses the same 1.5-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine, but it generates less power and torque than the regular petrol version. The CNG version is only available with a manual gearbox. Prices for the updated six-airbag version of the Brezza now start at ₹8.69 lakh (ex-showroom) and go up to ₹14.14 lakh (ex-showroom).

Other than the Brezza, Maruti also has plans to launch its first-ever electric SUV this year. They showcased the SUV at the Bharat Mobility Expo this year, and it is likely to be launched in the market later this year.
