Deep Dive Into Maruti Suzuki's 4 New Electric Cars For India

Unlike most brands in India, Maruti Suzuki has lacked a pure electric vehicle in its lineup. This will change this year with the launch of Maruti’s first electric SUV. Maruti Suzuki has taken its time to develop an electric vehicle suitable for Indian road conditions. Here is a list of four new EVs from Maruti Suzuki that are expected to be launched in the Indian market soon.
The first car on the list is the eVitara, which has been in the news for quite some time. Maruti will be launching its first EV in the next couple of months. The Maruti eVitara is based on the HEARTECT-e skateboard platform.
Maruti showcased this model at the Auto Expo 2025 as well. The eSUV will come with 61 kWh and 49 kWh battery pack options and will offer premium features, including ADAS. The SUV is likely to be launched with a single motor only.
The next electric vehicle that Maruti is working on is an MPV. It is based on the same platform as the eVX but will be an MPV instead of an SUV. The upcoming electric MPV might take inspiration from the popular Ertiga MPV. It is currently known by the codename YMC, and not much information is available about it online.
We expect that the YMC will also get similar battery pack options as the eVitara. The YMC is expected to be launched next year.
Suzuki first showcased the eWX electric hatchback concept at the Bangkok International Motor Show (BIMS) last year. A few months after its showcase, the manufacturer filed a patent for it in India. This suggests that Maruti Suzuki is planning to introduce this small electric hatchback to the Indian market.
The design of the electric hatchback appears to be inspired by the Suzuki Solio. The eWX concept is a small car, and according to Suzuki, it will have a driving range of 230 km on a single charge.
The electric hatchback will be based on a heavily localized K-EV platform. Maruti is yet to reveal details regarding the battery pack and electric motor of this EV. We expect it to be launched in the market sometime next year.
The last electric vehicle on our list is the Fronx EV. The Fronx was launched in the market a few years ago and quickly became an instant hit among customers. The muscular, SUV-like front of the crossover appealed to many, while the Boosterjet engine won over those looking for performance. In fact, the Fronx became an unexpected success for Maruti.
Now, after the launch of the ICE version, Maruti is planning to introduce the electric version of the Fronx. However, details regarding its specifications and launch timeline remain scarce. Maruti will also be launching the Fronx facelift this year, which will be the first model from an Indian carmaker to feature Series Hybrid technology. All the EVs listed in this article are expected to be available in the market by 2030.
