Maruti Suzuki eVitara Electric SUV’s Variant Details Revealed

Maruti Suzuki India Ltd (MSIL) is getting ready to launch its first electric vehicle (EV) in the Indian market. The Maruti eVitara made its premiere in Milan and India debut at the Bharat Mobility Expo 2025. While we expect the market launch to happen in March, MSIL has now let out details of the variants that would be on offer. Reports confirm that the eVitara will come in three variants-Delta, Zeta, and Alpha- like most cars sold through Nexa are named. Let’s delve into the known details…
Initially, 2WD will be standard across variants. The AWD version that is currently available in global markets, is not offered in India at launch. It could, however, be added to the lineup in future. The eVitara offers two battery choices- 49kWh and 61kWh- both use Lithium Ferro-Phosphate (LFP) battery chemistry. To keep processes simple, Maruti Suzuki has opted to import the entire battery pack (sourced from BYD), instead of importing cells and assembling them in-house.
These battery packs use cell-to-pack technology and have Blade cells. They would have sophisticated thermal management and deliver optimal performance even at temperatures in the range of -30°-60°C.
The base-spec variant- Delta will come with the 49 kWh battery. The other two variants will get the 61kWh. The larger battery pack will offer a range of around 500 km per charge. The 49 kWh battery pack will be mated to an electric motor that develops 142 bhp and 192.5 Nm. The larger battery pack will have an electric motor that makes 172 bhp and 192.5 Nm.
All variants will support 7kW AC charging and 70kW DC fast charging. The EV is based on Maruti Suzuki’s e-Heartect platform. The eVitara will be available in 10 different exterior colourways. Six monotone and four dual-tone colours will be on offer.
The top-spec Alpha variant will come packed with features. It will have a dual-tone finish to the cabin with vertical AC vents and door armrests crafted with breathable Melange Fabric.
It will offer equipment like twin displays for the infotainment and instrumentation, Infinity by Harman audio, panoramic glass roof, automatic climate control, wireless charger, ambient lighting, auto-dimming IRVM, 360-degree camera, powered driver seat, ventilated front seats, sliding and recline function for the second row, etc. The safety features on offer will include seven airbags, ABS, EBD, Level 2 ADAS and more.
To suit various driver behaviours and road conditions, Maruti Suzuki has given the eVitara selectable driving modes- Eco, Normal, and Sport. There is even a snow terrain mode for added versatility.
The EV has a wheelbase of 2700 mm. It has short overhangs and an SUV-like design. Key highlights include unique Y-shaped LED DRLs and LED headlamps, a rugged, SUV-like look, a muscular-looking front faux skid plate, a boxy side design, large wheel arches with thick cladding, rear door handles integrated into the C-pillar, integrated roof spoiler, all-LED tail lamps with connecting LED bars and a muscular rear bumper The turning radius would be 5.2 meters. The construction includes over 50 per cent high-tensile steel.
When launched, the Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara will compete with the likes of Tata Curvv EV, Hyundai Creta Electric, MG ZS EV, BYD Atto 3, MG Windsor EV, and the Mahindra BE 6.
