Maruti Suzuki eVitara Officially Unveiled At Bharat Mobility Expo

One of the much-awaited products from Maruti this year is the eVitara. The first electric vehicle from India’s largest manufacturer was unveiled last year, but the eSUV has only come to India now. The electric SUV has now been officially unveiled on the first day of the Bharat Mobility Expo 2025. Maruti will officially sell the eVitara via Nexa dealerships. The official launch of the Maruti eVitara will happen in the coming months.
The SUV unveiled today at the expo is the same as the international version. The electric SUV borrows its name from Maruti’s mid-size SUV, the Grand Vitara, but that is where the similarities end. This is an all-new SUV built from scratch. The electric SUV is based on the eVX concept, and the production version of the SUV looks very similar to the concept.
The Maruti Suzuki eVitara is based on the HEARTECT-e platform, which is a skateboard platform specifically built for EVs. Coming to the design elements, the Maruti eVitara comes with unique Y-shaped LED DRLs and LED headlamps. There is a portion between the bonnet and bumper where the Suzuki logo is placed.
The front grille is completely closed, and there are parking sensors and a camera integrated into it. To achieve a rugged, SUV-like look, Maruti Suzuki has added a muscular-looking front faux skid plate.
Coming to the side profile, the boxy design of the SUV becomes much more evident. Large wheel arches with thick claddings further enhance its SUV character. The rear door handles are integrated into the C-pillar, similar to the previous-generation Swift. At the rear, we see an integrated roof-mounted spoiler, all-LED tail lamps with connecting LED bars, a muscular rear bumper, and the Suzuki logo on the tailgate with eVitara branding.
Just like the exterior, the Maruti Suzuki eVitara features an all-new cabin. The eVitara’s 2,700 mm wheelbase translates into a spacious cabin. The color scheme, theme, and design of the eVitara are unlike any Maruti currently available in the market.
The interior includes squarish AC vents with silver outlines, a twin-deck floating-type center console with storage underneath, a rotary gear knob, an electric sunroof, a floating-type touchscreen infotainment system, and a fully digital instrument cluster.
The steering wheel on the eVitara is also a new unit with a flat bottom. The eVitara offers features like drive modes (Sport, Eco, and Normal), ventilated front seats with 10-way electrical adjustments for the driver’s seat, 7 airbags, disc brakes on all four wheels, and Level 2 ADAS.
Regarding the battery pack options, the Maruti Suzuki eVitara offers two variants: a 49 kWh battery pack and a 61 kWh battery pack. It appears that Maruti might only launch the 2WD version of the eVitara in the market. An AWD dual-motor version was showcased internationally.
The exact driving range of the eVitara has not been mentioned yet. However, Maruti has stated in the presentation that the SUV will offer a driving range of over 500 km. The 49 kWh version might offer slightly less than this. The Maruti Suzuki eVitara uses LFP batteries sourced from BYD.
Maruti Suzuki will exclusively manufacture the eVitara in India and export it to other markets. The electric SUV is expected to start deliveries in the first half of 2025. This is only one of the many electric vehicles that Maruti will launch in the Indian market. Reports suggest that Maruti is also planning to introduce an affordable electric hatchback in the Indian market by 2028.
