Strong hybrid cars are gaining popularity in India, and to bank on this growing demand, Maruti Suzuki has launched the most affordable strong hybrid car in India. The company has recently launched a new variant – Delta Plus – which gets the 1.5-litre strong hybrid powertrain. This particular model is priced at Rs 16.99 lakh. Earlier, the most affordable strong hybrid variant of the Grand Vitara mid-size SUV was the Zeta Plus variant, which started at Rs 18.58 lakh (this variant is now priced at Rs 18.60 lakh).
As mentioned, the new Delta Plus has become the entry-level strong hybrid variant, which starts at Rs 16.99 lakh. This makes it Rs 1.6 lakh more affordable than the Zeta Plus variant. Apart from these, the company also offers the strong hybrid powertrain with Zeta Plus (O), priced at Rs 19.20 lakh (newly added variant), Alpha Plus, priced at Rs 19.92 lakh, and last, Alpha Plus (O), priced at Rs 20.52 lakh (new variant).
In terms of the main highlight of the Grand Vitara strong hybrid variant, it comes equipped with the 1.5-litre petrol engine, which gets hybrid assistance. This drivetrain is capable of generating a maximum power of 92.45 PS and 122 Nm of torque. As for the transmission, it gets a CVT gearbox. What makes this powertrain impressive is its mileage of 27.97 kmpl.
Currently, the Grand Vitara Delta Plus variant is the most affordable strong hybrid vehicle in India. This model comes equipped with new safety features such as 6 airbags as standard, ESP, ABS with EBD, and 3-point seatbelts for all passengers. It also gets hill-hold assist and ISOFIX child seat mounts.
The updated Grand Vitara now also comes with newly designed 17-inch alloy wheels, 8-way powered driver's seat, electronic parking brake, rear window sunshades, and LED cabin lights. Apart from these, the Grand Vitara also comes with a panoramic sunroof, 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless charger, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, 360-degree camera, heads-up display, and ventilated seats.
In addition to the addition of new variants to the strong hybrid model, Maruti Suzuki has also added a bunch of new variants to the Grand Vitara mild hybrid range. These variants are Zeta (O) MT, Alpha (O) MT, Zeta (O) AT, Alpha (O) AT, Alpha 4WD AT, and Alpha (O) 4WD AT. All of the (O) variants have the addition of a panoramic sunroof and are priced at Rs 60,000 more than the standard models.
The mild hybrid Grand Vitara now starts at Rs 11.42 lakh and goes up to Rs 19.64 lakh. Overall, there has been an increase of Rs 23,000–41,000 on the Grand Vitara mild hybrid variants. The mild hybrid powertrain comprises a 1.5-litre petrol motor, which produces 103 bhp and 139 Nm of torque. It comes offered with a 5-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic TC gearbox option.
Most likely due to the low demand and poor sales, Maruti Suzuki has pulled the plug on the CNG variants of the Grand Vitara. When they were available, the Grand Vitara CNG variants started at Rs 13.25 lakh and went up to Rs 15.21 lakh. As for the powertrain, it came with the same 1.5-litre with CNG system that makes 88 bhp and 122 Nm of torque.
