Maruti Suzuki Jimny4X4 Modified To Be Expedition-Ready [Video]

The Maruti Jimny (Suzuki Jimny in other markets) has always been a popular product even before its launch in India. The compact off-roader is loved in the international markets. Due to this popularity, there are numerous aftermarket modifications available for this SUV. Today, we will talk about some must have modifications if you own a Maruti Suzuki Jimny. These modifications are shown in a YouTube video uploaded by The Adventure Garage. Now, let’s start with the video.
First, let’s talk about the changes in the front fascia of the car. Functional upgrades in the front include halogen to LED conversion of headlamps, new DRLs and LED fog lamps. These changes are helpful in both highway driving and off-roading as they improve the visibility. The front grille has been painted to gloss black which beautifully complements the black color of the car.
Regarding the side profile, the SUV now rides on 15-inch steel rims which give it a robust look. Steel rims are more durable than alloys and they can be repaired easily. Hence, steel rims are more practical than alloy wheels in an off-road focused car.
A functional snorkel has been added to increase the water wading capacity. Other additions include Bimbra 4×4 roof rack, Bimbra 4×4 foot step and 10 litre lockable jerry cans on both sides with mounts.
The rear profile of the car has not seen many upgrades other than the roof ladder, LED taillights and a sports ABS spoiler. The host does not talk about any changes to the interior of the car.
The Jimny is a much loved product in the international markets but it did not manage to sell much in India. Before the launch, the Jimny was highly anticipated in the Indian market. However, multiple factors have been contributing to its slow sales.
• Maruti launched the Jimny at the time when the market was dominated by the Mahindra Thar. The brand saw this as an opportunity and launched the Jimny. But, Jimny failed to offer what the Thar offered which is a huge road presence. This was one of the many factors of the failure of the product.
• Initially, the Jimny was launched at a starting price of Rs. 12.74 lakhs. These prices were similar to that of the Thar and Gurkha. Hence, people preferred those SUVs more. Maruti has been continuously offering discounts and price cuts to boost the sales.
• Many people found that the power and torque figures of the Jimmy were low. The 1.5-litre four cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine of the Jimny managed to produce 104 PS of power and 135 Nm of torque. On the other hand, the 2-litre turbo petrol engine of the Thar produces 152 PS of power and 300 Nm of torque.
• Maruti has not offered a choice of diesel engine option with the Jimny.
All in all, we can say that the Jimny is a great product but if you want huge road presence, more power and diesel engine, this SUV is not suitable for you.
