Maruti Suzuki is one of the largest car manufacturers in the country. They have a variety of models spread across various segments. Many people had raised concerns about safety in Maruti cars. The manufacturer worked on the issue and has offered cars compatible with the current safety norms. It looks like Maruti is now planning to take things to the next level by offering 6 airbags as standard across all models in the lineup.

As per CarWale, Maruti Suzuki is now working on making 6 airbags standard across all products in their model range. They have not specified a date, but it is likely to be offered by the end of the current financial year. This update will be applicable to all the models sold via Arena and Nexa dealerships.

Currently, select models of the Maruti Suzuki range offer 6 airbags as standard. This includes Alto K10, Maruti WagonR, Celerio, and Swift. The new-generation Dzire is also offering 6 airbags as standard along with a 5-star safety rating.

Apart from this, Maruti is offering this feature only with the top-end versions of models like Baleno and Fronx. With this new change, affordable models from the Maruti range like S-Presso, Ignis, Fronx, and Baleno would also get 6 airbags.

This is actually a welcome change and something that customers would really appreciate. With these changes in place, Maruti Suzuki might increase the price of the cars. In 2025, Maruti Suzuki and many other car manufacturers in the country have increased the prices of cars more than twice.

The manufacturer mentioned in their official announcement that the rising cost of raw materials and operational costs were the reasons behind the price hike. Maruti Suzuki has increased the prices of cars three times this year.

It won’t be wrong to expect one more hike from the brand later this year. Apart from these models, Ertiga and XL6 would also be getting this new addition.

The premium models like the Maruti Grand Vitara and Invicto (which is a rebadged Toyota Innova Hycross) already come with 6 airbags as standard across their range. Not just the passenger cars, but Maruti is offering 6 airbags in their commercial or Tour cars as well.

Maruti Suzuki currently offers a wide variety of models for customers from different sections of society. Maruti Suzuki has been the first choice for many Indian families as they are familiar with the brand.

The widespread dealership and service network, fuel-efficient and refined engines, and factory-fitted CNG models are some of the reasons for its popularity. With this new announcement to make 6 airbags standard across all models, it would only make people even more interested in the brand.

Maruti currently offers petrol, mild hybrid, strong hybrid, and CNG fuel options in the market. As part of the BS6 emission norms, Maruti had discontinued diesel engines from all their models. Most diesel Marutis used a 1.3-litre turbocharged engine borrowed from Fiat, and it was so popular that it was called the national engine of India.
