Victoris is one of the most important launches of September 2025. For Maruti Suzuki, it is a mid-size SUV that helps expands the Arena portfolio beyond its traditional budget positioning. The Victoris introduces features that were previously confined to Nexa models, including hybrid technology, advanced driver assistance, and even all-wheel drive. Bookings have already opened for Rs 11,000, with prices expected to range between Rs 9.75 lakh and Rs 18.40 lakh across six trims.

Variants Covering a Wide Range

The Victoris line-up follows a familiar Maruti structure: LXi, VXi, ZXi, and ZXi Plus, with optional sub-variants offering extras like a panoramic sunroof.

Even at the entry-level LXi, equipment is generous. Six airbags are standard, accompanied by electronic stability control, traction control, and hill hold assist. Buyers also get a 7-inch touchscreen with wireless smartphone integration, automatic climate control with rear vents, and halogen projector headlamps.

The VXi adds more everyday conveniences such as a reversing camera, tyre pressure monitoring system, cruise control, and extra USB charging points. Hybrid versions at this level also get a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display.

The ZXi trim introduces LED DRLs, fog lamps, larger alloy wheels, leatherette upholstery, and a powered tailgate with gesture control. The optional panoramic sunroof is also available here. At the top, the ZXi Plus offers ventilated front seats, an 8-way power driver’s seat, a 10.1-inch infotainment unit, and Level 2 ADAS with adaptive cruise control, emergency braking, and lane keep assist.

Powertrains for Different Buyers

Where most rivals limit buyers to one or two engines, the Victoris offers four options. The standard mild hybrid uses a 1.5-litre petrol engine with 103 PS and 139 Nm, paired to either a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic.

All-wheel drive, via Maruti’s AllGrip system, is offered only on the ZXi Plus automatic. This version also gets terrain modes, giving it some ability beyond city and highway use.

The strong hybrid mirrors the setup from the Grand Vitara, combining a 1.5-litre three-cylinder petrol with an electric motor to produce 116 PS. It promises a fuel efficiency figure of 28.65 kmpl and offers pure EV driving at low speeds.

Perhaps most notable for Indian buyers is the introduction of an underbody CNG tank. Unlike traditional boot-mounted systems, this 55-litre equivalent tank frees up luggage space while still offering the efficiency advantage of CNG at 27.02 km/kg. With 88 PS and 121.5 Nm output, it caters to value-oriented buyers without compromising practicality.

Safety Standards Take a Leap

The Victoris has been rated 5-star by Bharat NCAP, scoring 31.66 out of 32 for adult protection and 43 out of 49 for child safety. This result places it among the safest cars in the segment, adding a strong selling point at a time when safety ratings are influencing more purchase decisions.

Safety kit across all trims includes six airbags, ABS with brake assist, ISOFIX mounts, and electronic stability control. Higher trims add a 360-degree camera, while the ZXi Plus benefits from the ADAS suite. This is the first time Maruti has brought such comprehensive driver assistance technology to its Arena range.

Up Against Strong Rivals

The Victoris will face well-established competitors like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Honda Elevate, and Citroen Aircross. It will also share showroom space with the Brezza and indirectly overlap with the Grand Vitara sold at Nexa outlets.

Maruti’s strategy is to use its Arena network to make premium features more accessible at lower price points, leveraging its scale to spread costs. By doing so, it creates an option for buyers who want advanced features but prefer the reach and pricing of Arena dealerships.

With price release set to happen soon, the Victoris could shift perceptions of what Arena products offer. A wide powertrain portfolio, strong safety credentials, and premium equipment suggest Maruti is aiming not just to compete with segment leaders but to set new expectations for value in the mid-size SUV market
