Last week, Maruti Suzuki unveiled its latest C-segment SUV for India- the Victoris. In the grand unveiling event, the carmaker did not, however, reveal the prices. This was likely due to the GST revision that was in the pipeline. Back then, the details of this weren’t known. Now, the Victoris has started reaching dealerships, pointing to an imminent price reveal. A clip shared on the YouTube channel Cars with Anurag shows a video tour of the range-topping variant..

This video seems to have been filmed from a dealer yard. The host says that he was allowed to shoot only for a short span of time, and the vehicle has started reaching dealers. It will be sold through the Arena dealership network. In Maruti’s portfolio, it sits between the Brezza and Grand Vitara.

Maruti will offer 10 colour options on the Victoris, including dual tones- Arctic White, Splendid Silver, Eternal Blue, Sizzling Red, Bluish Black, Magma Grey, Mystic Green, Splendid Silver with Black Roof, Sizzling Red with Black Roof, and Eternal Blue with Black Roof.

Going by the video, the Victoris looks good. The host talks in detail about this, explaining the various styling elements like the LED lighting, Chrome elements, Satin elements, plastic claddings, and more.

He even says that the wheelbase feels almost the same as that of the Grand Vitara, while the overall length is likely more than the NEXA SUV. Another interesting detail is that the Victoris doesn’t come with a sparewheel. Maruti has given it a puncture repair kit instead. The SUV seems to have ample boot space.

The host says that the variant shown in the video is the top-spec and comes with all the bells and whistles.

Interior Tour

The feature list includes a large floating touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a panoramic sunroof (borrowed from the Grand Vitara), ambient lighting with 64 selectable colours, PM 2.5 air purification system, 60W charging dock, ventilated front seats, built-in internet support, an electrochromic mirror, a large driver display with great display quality and a Head-Up Display (HUD).

The SUV also comes with a powered tailgate and level 2 ADAS. The driver display even shows key notifications from the ADAS suite.

The vehicle in the video is an automatic variant and thus comes with paddle shifters as well. You can also see the electronic parking brake with auto hold function.

The audio system gets 8 Harman Kardon speakers and Dolby Atmos. Maruti has also integrated Alexa Auto and connected car features into the central screen. The video also shows the rear room. It gets a 60:40 split design but lacks the recline function.

Safety

On the safety front, the Victoris gets six airbags, ABS, EBD, ISOFIX mounts and other tech alongside the ADAS suite. It aced the crash tests conducted by Bharat NCAP by scoring a full-five-star safety rating. The SUV scored 31.66 points out of 32 in adult occupant protection (AOP) and 43.00 out of 49 in child occupant protection (COP).

Powertrains

The host also talks about the Victoris’ engine options. It gets the same powertrains as the Grand Vitara- 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol (K15) mild hybrid, 1.5L 3-cylinder strong hybrid petrol that runs on Atkinson cycle and the CNG dual-fuel.

Interestingly, the CNG version comes with integrated underbody tanks for maximising boot capacity and practicality. This design will benefit families who travel with luggage. Maruti even offers 4x4 variants on the SUV.

The host concludes by saying that the Victoris is an appealing product- well styled, well-built and well packaged. All it needs now is an attractive price point. We can’t agree more. Considering how the revised GST structure favours the automotive industry, Maruti Suzuki will most likely come up with disruptive pricing for the Victoris.
