The country's largest automaker, Maruti Suzuki India Limited, has recently revealed its newest offering, the Victoris, in India. This mid-size SUV will directly take on the segment champion, the Hyundai Creta, which recently celebrated its 10-year anniversary in India. Today, we will be comparing these two mid-size SUVs to help you find out which is a better value-for-money purchase.

Dimensions

First off, let's start with the dimensions. The newly launched Victoris measures 4,360mm, and it is 30mm longer than the Hyundai Creta. Width-wise, the Victoris measures 1,795mm, and it is 5mm wider than the Creta. As for the height, it is 1,655mm tall, which makes it 20mm taller than the Creta. Unfortunately, despite the longer length, Victoris’ wheelbase is 10mm shorter than the Creta, which measures 2,610mm.

Exterior design and features

The Victoris offers a fresh new appearance, and it comes equipped with auto LED projector headlights with a follow-me-home function. It also gets connected LED DRLs, diamond-cut 17-inch alloys, roof rails, a spoiler, and a shark fin antenna. It also gets silver skid plates, which give it a sporty appearance. Overall, the new Victoris looks sharp and angular.

On the other hand, the Hyundai Creta offers a time-tested premium appearance, which Indian buyers have loved for over 10 years. It gets quad-beam LED headlights, sequential LED DRLs and indicators. It also gets 17-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels and front and rear skid plates. It also gets integrated roof rails, a spoiler, and a shark fin antenna.

Maruti Suzuki has given the Victoris an all-black cabin with bronze accents. It also gets a soft-touch dashboard, leatherette upholstery, 64-color ambient lighting, and footwell illumination. Other highlights include a sunglass holder and front and rear armrests.

In terms of features, the newly launched Victoris comes loaded with tech. It gets a 10.25-inch digital instrument gauge cluster, auto AC with rear vents, ventilated front seats, an 8-way power-adjustable driver seat, a powered tailgate with gesture control, a head-up display, an air purifier, and terrain modes including Snow, Sport, Lock, and Auto.

It also comes with 45W/15W Type-C charging and a wireless charger along with a panoramic sunroof. The Victoris gets a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, an 8-speaker Infinity music system with subwoofer, Dolby Atmos surround sound, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Alexa, and others.

As for the Hyundai Creta, it gets a dual-tone grey and black cabin with leatherette upholstery. It also gets ambient lighting, a vanity mirror, an illuminated glovebox, and a sunglass holder. The Hyundai Creta is also a feature-packed mid-size SUV.

It gets 10.25-inch connected screens, dual-zone climate control, ventilated front seats, an 8-way power-adjustable driver seat, a 2-step rear seat, a rear window sunshade, wired Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a wireless charger, and a panoramic sunroof. The Creta also comes equipped with an 8-speaker BOSE audio system, JioSaavn streaming, Alexa, OTA updates, and connected car tech.

Both SUVs get 6 airbags as standard, Level 2 ADAS, ESP, traction control, hill-hold assist, a 360-degree camera, an electronic parking brake, ISOFIX, and a tyre pressure monitoring system. The Victoris also gets hill descent control, an acoustic vehicle alert system, and a tyre repair kit. The Creta, on the other hand, gets rear disc brakes.

Powertrain

The Victoris is being offered with three powertrain options. The first is a 1.5-litre petrol mild-hybrid engine making 103 PS and 139 Nm of torque. Then there is the 1.5-litre petrol strong-hybrid engine, which makes 116 PS and 141 Nm of torque. And lastly, it gets a 1.5-litre petrol CNG, which makes 88 PS and 122 Nm of torque. Transmissions include a 5-speed MT, 6-speed AT, and e-CVT. It also gets an AWD system as well.

The Creta powertrain options include a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated engine making 115 PS and 144 Nm of torque, a 1.5-litre turbo petrol making 160 PS and 253 Nm of torque, and a 1.5-litre diesel engine, which makes 116 PS and 250 Nm of torque. Transmission options include a 6-speed MT, CVT, 7-speed DCT, and a 6-speed automatic. It is only offered with a front-wheel-drive layout.
