Maruti Suzuki has revealed the prices of the all-new Victoris SUV. It starts at Rs 10.49 lakh, ex-showroom, and thus offers terrific value. The aggressive pricing has placed it squarely against the Hyundai Creta- the most popular model in its segment. The Korean SUV comes in a lot of variants, spread across seven broad trims. The Victoris, however, is offered in 21 variants, spread across six trims- Lxi, Vxi, Zxi, Zxi (O), Zxi+, and Zxi+ (O). Let’s now see how it stacks up against the Creta on the pricing front.

Creta Vs Victoris Price Comparison

Let’s start by looking at the larger picture. The Victoris starts at Rs 10.49 lakh and goes up to Rs 19.98 lakh, ex-showroom. The Creta, on the other hand, starts slightly higher- at Rs 11.11 lakh, ex-showroom and tops out at Rs 20.92 lakh, ex-showroom. The Victoris definitely has an edge over the Korean. Let’s now delve into the details.

Maruti’s new SUV is offered with three powertrain choices- a 1.5L naturally aspirated four-cylinder, mild-hybrid petrol engine (K15)- ‘Smart hybrid’, a 1.5L three-cylinder strong hybrid petrol engine that runs on Atkinson cycle, and a CNG dual-fuel powertrain that uses the 1.5L four-cylinder unit as its base. Both manual and automatic transmissions are offered. Plus, there are 4x4 variants available as well.

The Creta offers a different powertrain pool. It is available in both EV and ICE (Internal combustion engine) options. The ICE lineup has three engines on offer- 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol, 1.5L turbocharged petrol, and a frugal 1.5L turbo diesel. Transmission choices include manual, CVT, torque converter automatic, and a dual-clutch unit. The SUV, however, doesn’t get AWD or 4WD variants.

The Victoris ‘Smart Hybrid’ variants with the K15 engine start at 10.49 lakh, and the ex-showroom price of the range-topping Zxi+ (O) Automatic AWD variant is Rs 19.21 lakh. Automatic transmission can be had from the Vxi variant onwards. Suzuki’s All Wheel Drive system- AllGrip Select- is available in the Zxi+ and Zxi+ (O) trims alone. These are priced at Rs 18.63 lakh and Rs 19.21 lakh, respectively, both ex-showroom.

The strong hybrid lineup misses out on the base-spec Lxi variant. The Vxi strong hybrid variant has an ex-showroom price of Rs 16.37 lakh, while the range-topping Zxi+ (O) variant has an ex-showroom price of Rs 19.98 lakh.

The CNG version of Victoris starts at Rs 11.49 lakh (1 lakh more than the SUV’s starting price), ex-showroom and goes up to Rs 14.56 lakh for the top-spec Zxi CNG.

The Creta doesn’t come with a CNG powertrain. It instead offers a frugal diesel engine that delivers comparable operating costs. The diesel range begins at Rs 12.69 lakh, ex-showroom, and goes up to Rs 20.92 lakh. If you’re wondering, diesel automatics start at Rs 15.96 lakh. The petrol variants have a starting price of Rs 11.11 lakh, ex-showroom. It goes up to Rs 20. 61 lakh.

Clearly, most variants of the Creta have higher ex-showroom prices than comparable variants of the Victoris. Maruti Suzuki has packaged the Victoris well. It comes with a very comfortable and tech-laden cabin. The mid and high variants of the Victoris pack terrific value for their prices.

Victoris Has Proven Safety Records!

The latest version of the Creta comes with a slew of safety tech and features, and is claimed to be significantly safer than before. Evaluation bodies like Global NCAP, however, are yet to conduct crash tests of it. The Victoris, on the other hand, has already been crash tested by both Bharat NCAP and Global NCAP. In both cases, it scored five-star safety ratings.

Bottomline

With its smart packaging and aggressive pricing, the Victoris has a good chance of rising to stellar acceptance soon, bringing the Creta’s reign to a close.
